The city of Ashland received a jolt
Saturday, when the Rogue Kiver
Electric Light & Power company
filed suit to compel that company to
furnish power to supplement the mu
nicipal electric light and jxiwer i-ys-tem
soon tr bo put into operation. The
surprise wns due to the fact that the
city had supposed the suit to be a
friendly one. The Kogue river com
pany represenfed itself as willing to
furnish tho city with power, but held
out Hint it Had a aO-yeur contract
with tho Sibkiyou Power company
not to invade the Ashland field. It
was suggested that a friendly Miit be
started to invnlidato tho contract.
All went well until Saturday, when
the demurrer to tho cty'b suit was
filed.
