Tho Crater Lake company has a large force of men cutting wood for the Med ford market and It Is ex pected that woqd will be cheaper next winter In Medford. Ashpolc and Nichols have opened up their butcher shop and will carry n good stock of fresh meat and oth er necessaries for tho table. Our merchants are stocking up and each train brings In car loads of store freight and tho prices of goods will bo imuch reduced by the fall In freight. Tho hotels are doing a rushing business and all avallablo rooms aro soon taken by the people coming In to either locate or Inspect tho ground. The local band Is doing very well under the Instruction of Messrs. Car son & Hlldroth and It Is hoped will soon give a public exhibition of their proflclenpoy. The bank building has been nearly completed and Is now receiving tho flnlshinlg touches of Painter Erie. The insido Is fitted up after tho Im proved style of a banking room and presents a most Inviting look; the safe and vault are of tho latest pat tern and the location of tho building Is ono of the most desirable. Mr. Ilarkor, tho cashier, Is well liked and It Is expected that the bank will do a good business and bo a most acceptable addition to our place. Messrs. Arnold and Weeks, with their families have located in our midst and enjoy tho surroundings very much. They are from Kan sas. Mr. O'Brien, with his family of Wyoming, has taken residenco with us and already has found employ ment. A "y" will soon be built for tho ac comodation of tho railroad so that tho engine will ot have to back down to Eaglo Point. Tho work Ih ordered and this with tho building of tho "depot" and water tank wll make things lively for sometlmo to come and If the extension over tho Cascades Is made this summer and tho other enterprises materialize which aro proposed we seo no reason why Hutte Kails should not take a long stride forward this year. Messrs Carson & Stodard arc about building two store rooms ono the west side of park and will occupy them with their respective business as soon as they aro finished. Mr. Crook of Ashland has the lum ber on tho ground for tho erection "of a store room on his Park lot. Mr. Matthews has purchased tho house and lots of Mr. Uayzurn tho cast side and ns soon as it is vacat ed It will be cither rented or occupied by Mr. Matthews and family.
