Than Formerly They Are Forced to
Pay Advanced Price for Labor.
WASHINGTON, March '20. If the
fanner gets more for his crops in
these days of the high cost of living,
he is compelled to pay more for their
production, through tho liicrouscd
cost of farm labor. This fact ih
shown by tho department of agricul
ture in a bulletin just issued by Chief
Statistician Victor Olmsted.
The average wages of farm labor

The city of Central Point la con
templating extensive Improvements
for tho summer, a extension to tlv
water system, a sower system and
paving, costing approximately $12fi,
000. Work will commence In the
near future. On or about May 1st.
On April 20 the city of Central
Point will lot contractB for a 00,000
sower system.
Thero will bo four miles of piping
laid, the average cut will be eleven
feet, but In placoB the cut will be
twenty-three feet on tho deepest In
1'iiy system In this section.
Tho contracts call for alternate
bids, first on vitrified pipe, second
on concrete pipe, tho selection of the
kind (o bo used being left to tho
council.
The system will be known as an
out fall system. Tho out fall, pipe
which loads to Hoar Creek, will be
thirty Inches In diameter and will
bo U'iOO feet lu length.
The city will build an extension to
the present water system at u cost

Tbo city dada have received peti

side streets. These have been ac
cepted, lu all one mile of paving
