Portlnnd, rcnrcsenliiiR tho Orcuonplv to all parties concerned within a
Anti-Saloon league, addressed a
lnrgo nudionco in the opera house
Tuesday evening. Dr. Wilson is
making a canvass of Oreuon for
stato wido prohibition and is n fluent
talker. Ho is Bomothinc of an ano

that ho is a strong opponent of equal
Buffrace, as mny bo seen from an
extract from ono of his speeches
whicli appears in another column ni
n paid advertisement from tho Ore

Mrs. W. C. Evans, a former well
known resident of this city, who
went to Now York stato last spring
to reside with relatives, writes the
Herald asking that the address on
her pnpor be changed from Mrs. W.
C. Evans to Mrs. P. A. Richardson.
All of which indicates that the
worthy lady has made some New
Yorker happy by bestowing on him
licr heart and hand. Some of Mrs.
Evans closest friends here had an
inkling of a bit of romance in her
life which had to do with an early
love affair, nn estrangement and la
ter reconciliation by correspondence.
All of tho lady's friends heje will
unite in best wishes for her future
welfare.
