tion and Land Ownership.

No political candidate in Culifor

the union labor party unless ho
pledges himself publicly to fight for
anti-Asiatic immigration and anti
land ownership by Asiatics. Mem
bers of the Asiatic exclusion league,
a branch of the union lobor party,
are now at work on announced and
prospective candidates to hue tJnm
up for u renewal of the fight at tin!
next session of the California as
sembly to make more rigid tun ex
clusion of Asiatics.
Union labor in California is deter
mined to push the exclusion fighi
larder this year than ever and net
to submit to a checkmnto by the fed
eral authorites, as was the cause two
years ago, when Colonel Roosevelt,
then president, took a hand in tlio ag
itation and succeeded in putting a
stop to the drastic legislation that
was proposed.

ard states that he has an option on
soveral hundred acres of valuable

republican state central committee
from Jackson county, has received an
appointment from Acting Governor
Jay Bowerman as delegate from Ore
gon to the national conservation con
gress to bo held at St. Paul Septem
ber 5.
Dr. Keeno's view on conservation
are well known. He opposes tho
withdrawal of lands that could bo
utilized by settlers as delaying the
development of tho state, and Is a
strong advocato of the Balllnger
brand of conservation as against that
of Plnchot.
Dr. Keono will probably attend the
congress. Mrs. Keeno will accom
pany him, and they will visit Yol
lowstono Park en route.
