Tho old hens insisted on leaviug tho uests too soon, so I had to incubate about a dozen little fellows in the oven. And haven't I a dandy riding horse that feels so Rood most of tho time he has to jump over every little ob ject in the road, and sometimes lands mo on the fpronnd- Thrco times haven't I had a fine garden but not for long the cow ate it up. And haven't I a wholo basket full of little kittens that play around and cut up more monkey-shines than so saany real monkeys t And haven't I had a time finding ont about wooly aphis, blight, authrii guos, gnmons, etc? And haven't I gotten just soaked trj'ing to get home from tho city some of those misty days latt winter! nay, or course, I like me on a ranch, and if I had a good, lifelong servant and a dandy auto so I could always have my friends with me, -would never ask for another thing or a more ideal life. C. STODDARD.) John R. Allen gives it as his opin ion that after tho present federal census is reported Medford will have excellent prospeets of obtaining a donation from Mr. Carnegie. The stumbling block in tho past seems due to the fact that the census of 1000 gave Medford's population us 1791, while tho connt in 1909 showed something less than C000, thus mak ing it appear to the Carnegie lobrary board that tho amount asked for, $20,000, was out of proportion to the population. The returns of the cen sus cow being taken will no doubt create a more favorable impression. Mr. Allen's conclusions are based on a personal interview which he had with Mr. Carnegie's secretary during his recent trip cast. SANITARY MILK (MRS. E. M. JANNEY.) This is tho time and opportunity to urge tho co-operation of all women in the use of sanitary milk tickets. In view of tho great amount of in fections disenses which have pre vailed in Medford during the past months, this seems most urgent. Coming from an eastern city where those germ-Indcn tickets had long Hinee disappeared, no little horror filled my soul when, on coming to this progressive town, I must pass out the worn and soiled pasteboards for an article that should and must bo tho purest. ' Having found ray dairyman willing to take up with tho plan, if he only knew how. Snmplo pages of cou pons were obtained from the east, which has been a guide to tho print er; the coupons are in use, much to my satisfaction. The Mail Tribune has taken that printing with the cost about the same as the old tickets. If this subject is brought to tho 'notice of tho dairy men and sanitary tickots demanded by their customers, no doubt they will bo as willing as waa my dairy man to make tho chango, while every customer must feel more confidence in every improved or sanitary measure.
