10 MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD, OREGON, SUNDAY, MAY .15, 19.10. E FROM ANOTHER POINT OE VIEW CENTRAL POINT NEWSLETTER (JEANNE L. BRACKlNliEED.) In deep gratitude and humblo np prccintion of tho honor conferred apon me, a moro woman, to address tho puhlio through tho medium of this papor, I havo endeavored not to overstep the bounds sot by man for wotnau, in his wisdom and sagacity, many conturios ago, but havo kept my proper and man-allotted place--in tho kitehon. From there I shall attempt to give my humblo opinion and message. Wo nro all familiar with the say ing that too many cooks spoil the broth, no matter how good tho broth may be, but when in fact tho con tents of tho pot havo reached the critical and boiling point, as has the political pot today, I hold that now would bo a very unfair test for any cook, oven woman, to step in with cap and apron and attempt to make tho dish a more savory one. Should sho try to skim tho objectionable skutn which has risen to the top, the odors of which have reached tho pub lic's nose, sho, too, would only burn her fingors. Then, again, should sho in her inborn love for stirring things up reach for tho spoon of discon tent and reform, and disturb man's brow, sho would find, I fear, that it is badly scorched at tho bottom, and would again receive unsavory vapors as tho result of her temerity. I must say, in all humility, that, judging from present results, man has made a moss of the affairs of state, and can not oven blame woman for loaning him the recipe. The concoc tion is all his own. If woman must tako a share in this, as sho does in all culinary art, she must either wisely wait until the brow has sim mered down in order to mako herself nnd her ability felt, or man must give her the provilege of spilling out the present contents of the pot, cleanse it thoroughly, fill it with the spirit of truo womanhood, place it upon tho sacred fires of ardor and pure patriotism stir it frequently with her ovcr-growing ideals, and serve it to humanity in nil singleness of purpose, garnished with the tender nnd evergreen hopo of greater things for all tho race. (MKS. EVELYN MAPLE.) L. C. Davis nnd wife are stopping for a little while at tho homo of Mr. Davis' parents. Dr. and Mrs. E. Davis. of this city. Hev. J. D. A slight improvement has been noted in his condition by Dr. Pollnitz, his attending physician, hut his recovery is still problematical. Wo havo been told through tho pa pers so confidently of Into that Mr. ; Halley's comet could bo seen any fine I night "shining brightly in tho eastern ! heavens," that we set the alarm clock j Thursday evening in order that we. , too, might seo tho gorgeous phenom enon and bo able to inform our gnuul ! children years bunco that "wo saw jtho comet of 1910." When the clock performed at 2:30 wo arose and ns jsombeld our interested family and. arrayed in more or less nondescript apparel, wo sallied forth into the night to behold and to wonder. Did wo see tho comotf We did. Wo saw seven billions of them nil "sinning brightly" tttid unblinkingly. But not ouo of tho wholo bunch had by any stretch of tho iiuingiuatiou, that silly nebulous luminous streak that is the distinguishing feature of these hoax -only xvandorors. Hereafter if nalloy's comet or any ono else's comot xvnnts to pose for our admiration, it must positively ap pear boforo 10:00 p. m. and bring with it a guaranteed tail.
