Quite an exciting and disastrous runaway occured iu the streets of town Wednesday. " The team or Wm. Garret took a notion to skip and th.-y made for the bridge over Boar ornok. but instead of going over the bridge they twitched oil and went through the creek. leaving the wagon upturned against a stump in the middle of the stroam. Tho horses were caught a short distance out. The harness was somewhat damaged and the wagon a little the worse for tho accident. Wednesday evening last Mrs. Geo. E. Anderson and boiu9 lady, friends took. Mr, Anderson's team and hack and struck out for the camp meeting grounds to attend the evening session of the meeting. - Everything went along swimmingly, and the jolly orowu were journeying homeward, when one of the wheels struck a stump and rather unceremoniously dumped the driver, Mrs. Jones, who is a vory fleshy lady, out and under the hack, tho wheels running over her limbs." The school hoard met in special session at the cleric's office, Monday evening, July 11, with A. A. Davis chairman. I. A.' Webb director, and J. II. Faris, clerk, present. The chairman stated that tho object of tho mcetitg was held for the pur pose of hiring teachers for tho noxt school year, and any other business that might come before the board. On motion tho followiug teachers wero selected and salaries fixed for the coming year: Prof. N. L. Narrogan, principal, $1050; N. A. Jucobs, assist ant principal. S'JO; Misses Mary Theiss, Delhi J. Pickel, Myrtle Nicholson, Elva Galloway and Carrio Sackett, $10. On motion tho time of collecting the school tax was extended to August loth.
