Portland— Sugar prices higher than
ever predicted before are predicted by
wholesale grocers.
As s consequence
of the latest advance in the East there
w ill be a 10-cent rise in the Portland
market Thursday, which w ill bring
the wholesale price up to $8 a hundred
pounds. The highest price on record
was $8.05, which prevailed soon after
the war began. I t is likely this record
w ill be exceeded in the next fe w days,
as the Eastern market* are strong.
