Potter is said to have made his
headquarters in Chicago for months
and to have cleared more than $1,600,-
000 during the past two years through
illicit enterprises.
Two men are said to be implicated
with Potter, and Superintendent De
woody laid traps to capture them, but
they were wary and eluded arrest.
He expects to have them in custody
within a few days.
The arrest o f Potter is the culmina
tion o f months o f work on the part of
secret service men. Potter is a prize
they have been seeking zealously.
It is Baid that a year ago they had

court o f Philadelphia, but that they
forfeited bonds o f $23,000 and es
caped. Potter offered to furnish bonds

him out o f business, made a brief
speech and went over the ground from
his point o f view. He is in favor of
the free locks, he said.
