While In conversation with Dr. R.
C. Hunter the other day. he told us
that in southern Oregon and California
farmers were raising mangel wurtzels
for cow feed. They are a great milk
producer and in th alkali soils they
raise 30 to 40 tons per acre. He says
they plant them about 8 inches apart
in rows not less than two feet apart.
They mature during September and
October and make excellent feed. '

Word was received in Lexington
last Saturday that Clover, youngest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David E.
Leach, died at Dayton, Wash., on
Friday last of scarlet fever, and two
other of the children were sick with
