NOTICE The best way to build up your own tcwn Is to do your trading at home. Patronize your home merchants. If they succeed the chances are you will succeed. When you send a dollar to a mall order house you have the goods and they have the money. Trade at home and we keep both the goods and the money. GARDEN BRIEFS One of the greatest mistakes a far mer can make is to become so en grossed in making money that he has no time to beautify his home. One of the cheapest and most effective ways of doing this is with nature's own ma terials. Here is a plan for a unique and pretty flower bed, which will be an ornament to any lawn. Make a pile of stone preferably boulders or "nig ger heads" of any convenient size, and fill the spaces with rich dirt. Plant all these little holes to ferns and flowers, and in a few weeks you will find that you have added a very beaut ifying feature to your yard. Almost everyone is familiar with the lily of the valley, the achilleas and the golden glow or rudbeckia and will hardly need to be told how they are propagated. They increase so rapidly from underground rootstocks as to be soon crying for more room and rapidly deteriorate if not transplanted or thined out and feritlized often. Every man who owns his own home should have an asparagus bed, but it won't pay renters to attempt It, be cause it takes to long to get it started. Once established, it is good for twenty years, or even longer, and furnishes the first green thing for the table in the early spring. For a small bed, for home use, one had better buy the roots from a seedhouse, though If one wants extra nice plants he can get them by sowing the seed and selecting only the best plants that come from the seed. A Maryland gardener says; After we dig the potatoes it is our usual custom to plow the ground and sow scarlet clover and turnip seed, taking care not to get the turnip seed to thick. We get a good crop of turnips without any labor, and also a crop of hay. The scarlet clover seems to be benefited by turnips being in It, for we always get a crop of hay even when it is a failure elsewhere. In the treatment of piles it becomes necessary to have the remedy put up in such a form that it can be applied to the parts affected. Man Zan Pile re medy is encased in a collapsible tube with nozzle attached. It cannot help but reach the spot. Relieves blind, bleeding, itching and protruding piles. 50c with nozzle guaranteed.
