Figures of our foreign commerce' In automobiles show the valuo of automobiles Imported In the eleven months ending with May to havo been .$3,502,214, and of , parts thereof, $378,38!), while exports thereof during the same months amounted to $2,0r7,7'18. It Is apparent, therefore, that tho figures for the full fiscal year which ended with June will show more than $4,000,000 worth of automobiles and parts thereof Imported, and more than $3,000,000 worth exported. Meanwhile tho manufacture of auto mobiles In the United States has amounted to presumably more than $20,000,000, since the bureau of the cen sus has recently Issued a preliminary statement which shows the value of au tomobiles manufactured In the United States In 1005 at $20,054,004. This fig ure Includes amounts received from cus tom work and repairing and value of products other than automobiles; but as It does not Include automobiles, val ued at $879,205, manufactured In es tablishments engaged primarily In the umnufacture of otter products, It may probably be safely set down that the value of automobiles produced In the United States approximates $20,000,000 and tho Imports $4,000,000, and that out of tills total of $30,000,000 there was exported about $3,000,000 worth.
