We want some good correspondents in the country. Miss Grace Cole, of Walla Walla, arrived last Friday and assumed charge of the Intermediate department of the school Monday. The dwelling of J. M. White Was wired for electric lights last Friday. Mr. White has the honor, of being the first to have his residence wired under the new rates, h" ' 5? V, Mrs. A. E. Beymer purchased the Hotel Lexlington last Friday and took charge Saturday evening "after supper. Mr. and Mrs. Doherty have moved In to the building north of.JJhe Wheat-field. S. E. Lee left Tuesday for an ex tended trip through Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri. He expects to be gone about one month. During; his absence R. C. Warren will have charge of hi real estate office. Miss Apes Hammer returned to Lexington Saturday last and resumed charge of the Primary department of the school Monday. Miss Hammer spent her summer vacation at Port land and Newberg. They found room for him and will endeavor to keep him with them. The Wheatfield Is in receipt of a letter from R. C. Phelps, who is now In the Walla Walla country, ordering The Wheatfseld sent to him at Pres cott, Wash. Royal, says farm help is scarce there and that $3 per day Is the lowest wages paid. We have accepted the agency for the Columbia Phonograph Co. and have a stock of Disc and cylinder re cords on hand. TRY THE WHEATFIELD FOR YOUR JOB WORK At the regular meeting of the Coun-J cil last Monday evening the regular routine work was done and the Coun cil granted permfssfon to the Lexlng tonJCreamery Co. to put a drain pipe from the Creamery to the creek. Bills of J. B. White for $7.10 and W. G. Scott for $24 allowed. Ordinance relating to dog tax was repealed. F. W. Sargent, recently of Ho quiam, Wash., formerly of Iowa, arrived fn Lexington Monday evening to take charge of the Creamery as Superintendent and butter maker. Mr. Sargent has had some twelve years experience in butter factories and fs a graduate of the Iowa State Dairy School, at Ames, Iowa. It Is expect ed that the Creamery will start in a bout two weeks. Lexington people were considerably surprised last Saturday evening, when a telephone message was received from Heppner, stating that L. S. Gil breath and Miss Tona White were mar ried. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbreath return ed to Lexington Sunday morning, where they recjsfved the congratula tions of a host of . friends. Mr. Gil- breath Is the manager of the Kerr, Glfford Co,s local warehouse, and while he has only been m this county a little over one year he has gained the friendship of nearly everyone, by his honest and square dealings with all. The bride Is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. White, of this city, and Is well and favorably known by. all, having always taken an active Interest In church and social affairs.
