CHAFF FROM TKE STRAW STACK
The only th'ng in this world like a
boy is a man.
A tusiness man should neither dcze
nor bulldoze.
Unless we take God for a beginning
we begin wrong.
Some God's best gifts are wrapped
up in very common paper.
Th3 stubs in check books cover a
multitude of disappointments.
How much good some of us could
do if we didn't wait until tomorrow to
begin.
We would have more revivals if we
had more preaching aimed at the
sinners on the front row.
It's time to take your annual bath
externally and internally. Do it
now. It's time to clean np.
An Indiana women succeeded in
laying in a stock of fourteen husbands
before the authorities deemed it best
to interfere and clip the wings of her
monopolize spirit.
There was a man in Lexington and
he was wonderous wise. He marked
a silver dollar in and gave it all to
Lize; she went to the butcher shop and
blew the dollar in it wasn't long be
fore the coin" came back to" him
again. He took it to the merchant
and bought a dress for Jane before ' the
week had finished up back came that
plunk again. He spent the coin in
Lexington fifty times or more, but al
ways got it back again and spent o'er
and o'er; but when he sent a dollar up
to Shears & Sawbucks store, 'twas
gone for good, forever and he never
saw it more.
It is all right to preach that a man
shonld love his neighbor as himself it
sounds so good and platonic. But it
is not always possible. Take for in
stance the man who has planted a fine
garden and his neighbor has chickens
which he persists in letting run at
large. How can the man with the
garden love that neighbor as himself?
It simply can't be done so long as those
chickens are not shut up.
Look at the condition of the work
ing man to-day; where is he? . The
tinners are continually going up the
spout; the plumbers are always in the
gutter; the paper hangers are up
against the wall; bakers are compelled
to raise the dough; the policeman has
to be on the beat to live; the shoe
makers are compelled to work on the
uppers and get waxed in the end; the
clock makers run on tick and are nev
er on time ;the wash woman Is always
In soak and she is the only one you see
hanging out on the line.

From a microscopical Mcutida ruori
near Boulogne with 800 paraaaaeni
inhabitants 30,000 picture post
cards were sent off in a month. The
local postmistress could not handle
the mails. Her supply of one cent
stamps gave out and the demand for
stamps of that denomination at
Boulogne was so great that she
could not obtain there a new supply.
The visitors had to use two cent and
four cent stamps to send their cardB.
What the daily sendoff of such post

was can be imagined.
