THURSDAY JANUARY 11, 1906. Best Town Id Morrow County, After reading The Wheatfield, of December 28th, the lone Proclaimer man threw a couple of fits and took a few shots and had a dream wherein he seen lone as the best town In Morrow county The Wheatfield stated noth ing but facts when it showed why Lexington is the best town in Morrow county, and did not state or intimate that it shipped more grain than all the balance of the county, but wt are still of the opinion that we have the best town In the county, and cannot see how the Proclaimer man failed to count our wheat shipments as a part of Ione's shipment, but perhaps it was like the traveling man's expense ac count when it had an overcoat in it, but you couldn't see it. lone may have more people inside its limits than Lexington, yet there is not a knocker in our midst, our busi ness men are not fighting each othgr and everyone is working for the best interests of the town. Can the Pro claimer say as much? Our people are more enterprising than the inhabitants of any other town in the county. Within the past year many new buildings have been erected, a good system of water works have been put in and now everyone is having their buildings wired for electric lights. We admit that lone has been a pretty good town but when Lexington wakened up and got into the running lone began to get a few sore spots and everytime any one mentions Lexington it hurts and hurts bad. ' Lexington with her natural advan tages is destined, In a very few years to be the best and largest town in thV county. It is situated In the center of the wheat producing belt, of easy access and the natural market for the best portion of the county. "Lexing ton Grows Without Watching." The Wheatfield Is In receipt of a card announcing that Claud Gatch, of Marion County is a candidate for nomination for the office of Secretary of State. We have received word from a number of candidates announ cing themselves, but have decided to take no action In politics until after th primaries. That new station agent for Lexing ton has not arrived yet. SOCIAL RIDGE Social Ridge school began the second term January 2 '06.
