LEXINGTON HAS ELECTRIC LIGHTS NOW ALL CAN SEE US GROW The band played and the lights were turned on last Saturday night as per our announcement last week. On Saturday's evening train Mr. W. j. Lee, of the Mitchell Lewis & Staver Co., arived and Immediately after supper he started wiring in the switch board and about nine o'clock started the engine and dynamo, which worked as nicely and smooth as could be ask ed of any machine. The switch was thrown and light was flashed all oyer ' the district that had been wired, t i v When the lights were turned on, cheer after cheer went up from those on the street watching them. The present plant consists of a1 five horse Stover Gasoline Engine and a 50 light, Hobart Gas Engine type, dynamo. The dynamo is the one that was on display in the Electrical building,, at the Portland Exposition and was used 8 hours per day during the entire time of the Exposition without' giving the least trouble or having a wrench used on it for adjustment. The Stover gasoline engine ' is ac knowledged by all users of gasoline en gines as one of the standards and on the top shelf. This machine Is now carrying its full load and another engine and a 160 light dynamo have been ordered, which will be installed about February 1st,, in addition to the one now in use. This will give Lexington a plant with a capacity of 210 lights. The construction work on the ' lire LOCAL NEWS The council met Monday evelng last and' accepted the street lights, with the understanding that the work of Installing the lights at other .points are to be pushed to completion at once. SCHOOL NOTES Everybody come to the entertain ment given at the Congregational church Friday afternoon at 2:30. The exercises consist of Christmas dialo gues, singing and speaking. - All In terested in exercises given , by the primary pupils will do well to come.
