She has gone to live with those who have passed before her includ- ing 20-year-old cat Tink and her loving Heavenly Father and Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Kelie was born in Pendleton, Ore- gon, on January 9, 1969, to parents Otis Clay- ton Orr and Verna Lee Orr. Kelie had many joys in life. Being a mountaineer, she taught her children how to track, shoot, and dress deer and elk. Being a phe- nomenal baker and cook, better than Gordan Ram- sey, she loved to teach her children and their spouses how to cook; she was also famous for her whisky fudge, as one newspaper article would say. She never met a stranger and loved to love people and was loved by all in return. She had a rare gift for animals and was responsible for sav- ing countless of all kinds throughout her lifetime. She is an amazing mother and taught her chil- dren compassion, humility and to be giving. Kelie leaves behind fi ve children and eight grand- children, two sisters and her par- ents: daugh- ter Heather Bishop with spouse Shad Bishop, with their chil- Dike dren Aurora, Paizlee and Blake; son Caleb Brown with his chil- dren Caiden and Bentley; son Zane Dike with spouse Laila and their children Karalina and Grayson; son Austin Dike and spouse Stephanie; daughter Bai- ley Dike with fi ance Kem- per Kinney and baby Atti- cus Kinney; sisters Tammy Turner and Margret Harp; father Clayton Orr, and mother Verna Lee Orr. Mommy, Nana, daugh- ter and sister, we love you more than the moon, the stars and the sky above. Thank you for being there for all of us and many more. Tennis was a favorite playing sport of his until an injury sidelined him. Then there was his jogging. You could tell who it was run- ning behind you just by his foot placement on the pavement. His gait was his own, a gait that you imme- diately associated to be his. I would help him train for his runs by pacing him on my bike. He never com- plained should I by chance happen to increase his pace, he just kept up with me. Bloomsday became a family affair for 10 years. Boating was a lifelong passion of Sam’s from his youth and up until his late 70s. RVing and boating at Lake Roosevelt became a family gathering. When we weren’t fi shing, we would RV to Wallowa Lake, Lin- coln City or Ft. Stevenson, Washington. Sam was a 33-year member of the Hermiston Kiwanis Club and lifelong member of Fraternal Order of Elks. Sam married Leslie Anne Batease on October 4, 1980, and brought to this marriage her sons, Robert and Michael. Sam is survived by his wife of 40 years, Leslie, and stepsons Robert and Michael; his fi rst wife Sally and their children Shelly (Temby Zander) and Sheila (Frank Ashbeck) of Pend- leton; his grandchildren Shelby (Brian) McQuinn, Jennifer (Conan) Fisher and TJ (Erin) Zander of Pendleton, Tonya (Nate) McFarlane of Echo, Jake Batease, Caleb Batease and Rebecca Batease of John Day, and Knox Batease of Boise, Idaho; and his sis- ter Sharon (Wayne) Davis of Pomeroy, Washington. He also survived by nine great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. As the kids would say, Dad loved life, and that he was a caring husband, father, and grandfather. He supported and gave of him- self to numerous individu- als and their causes. In lieu of fl owers, remembrances can be made to St. John’s Epis- copal Church, 665 E.
