Umatilla County Fire District 1 conducted a water rescue in the Umatilla County river on the evening of Monday, July 27. According to a news release from the district, emergency crews responded to the the river near Uma- tilla for a report of a per- son who was stranded in the river after reportedly hitting a rock while cliff jumping. The release stated the patient had suffered “severe, non-life threatening inju- ries” that caused them to be unable to get to safety on their own power. UCFD1 reported it took 90 minutes for two command rigs, two engine companies, and a rope rescue team to rescue the patient. ARCO settlement checks coming HERMISTON HERALD More than a million Oregonians who used a debit card to buy gas at an Oregon ARCO am/pm gas station between Jan. 1, 2011, and Aug. 30, 2013, will receive a check in the mail for $94.42 in the com- ing weeks. According to a news release from Oregon Con- sumer Justice, the checks are not a scam and can be cashed or deposited. They are part of a settlement of a class action lawsuit against the oil company BP, which lawyers argued illegally charged Oregonians a 35 cent debit card fee during the time period above.
