June 10, 1928 — December 19, 2018 Betty Lou Camilla (Kielmeyer) Danner, a res- ident of Keizer, Ore., and former Pendleton resident, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at the age of 90. She was born June 10, 1928, in Fergus Falls, Minn., the only child of Erwin W. and Camilla M. (Just) Kielmeyer. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School before attend- ing Electronic Danner Radio-Television Institute in Minneapolis, Minn. Following completion of her training in 1946, she accepted a position in Port- land, Ore., as a communica- tions operator with United Airlines. She met Ray- mond S. Danner and they were married at Made- leine Catholic Church, Port- land, on February 20, 1949. They moved from Portland to Pendleton in 1952 when Raymond opened his law practice. From 1950 to 1957 they had five children (Ray- mond, Paul, Thomas, Linda and Mark). Betty Lou was a devoted mother who cher- ished her children. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She also volunteered as a Cub Scout den mother, swim team timer and Altar Society member. She and Ray were members of the Pendleton Elks Lodge and Mr. and Mrs. Dance Club. She loved boating and waterskiing at the McNary Yacht Club at Hat Rock. In 1973 they relocated from Pendleton to Keizer where they built two homes. Betty Lou and Ray would sail in the San Juan Islands, enjoying fresh caught crab and scenic har- bors, and had many wonderful hours traveling. In December 1997 Ray died. Betty Lou never remarried. She was active with St. Edwards Cath- olic Church work- ing with the Meals on Wheels pro- gram and a crochet group donating over 100 shawls. She also volunteered at the Willamette Lutheran Home, visiting residents and bright- ening their days. Betty Lou continued living in her home until 2017 before moving to assisted living in Keizer. She enjoyed attend- ing mass at St. Edwards, playing dominos, and taking trips to Puerto Vallarta, Sun- river and the Oregon coast. Betty Lou was a beauti- ful, kind, selfless individ- ual who would always offer encouragement or a smile. Preceding her in death were her parents and hus- band. She is survived by her five children and their spouses (Raymond /Linda; Paul/Dian; Tom/Janet; Linda/Mike; and Mark/ Sara), seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A funeral mass was held on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Edwards Church in Keizer, Ore. Pri- vate interment followed at Willamette National Ceme- tery, Portland. BASIC TRAINING Amanda M. Barron U.S. Air Force Airman Amanda M. Barron grad- uated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Barron com- pleted an intensive, eight-week pro- Barron gram that included training in military dis- cipline and studies, Air Force core values, physi- cal fitness, and basic war- fare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associ- ate in applied sci- ence degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Barron is the daughter of Jason and Malynda Bar- ron of Hermiston, and a 2018 graduate of Hermis- ton High School. Sentences Virginia Marie Bissinger Hermiston February 29, 1928 — December 15, 2018 Longtime Stanfield resident Virginia Marie Bissinger, 90, of Hermis- ton, Oregon, died Satur- day, December 15, 2018, in Hermis- ton, Oregon. Virginia was born on February 29, 1928, in Echo, Oregon, to parents Manuel C. and Florence Picanso. Virginia gradu- ated from Hermis- ton High School in Bissinger 1946 and on Octo- ber 11, 1946, married Berk- ley O. Bissinger in Herm- iston, Oregon. They were married for 53 years before his death in 1999. Virginia has been involved in a great many church and civic organiza- tions. She helped lead 4-H clubs, and organized the Stanfield Hunters Breakfast to gift monies back to many civic groups in the city of Stanfield. She also served on the Stanfield Library Board and helped raise funds to build the current Stanfield library. She was a member of the Catholic Church in Echo and Hermiston and was a long- time member of the Catho- lic Daughters and a volun- teer for the Catholic Soup Kitchen. Her cooking skills were amazing and her recipe of biscuits and gravy, along with cinnamon rolls, drew many a guest, neighbor and family member for a gour- met breakfast. Virginia worked as a restaurant cook, a munitions clerk at the Umatilla Army Depot, and for Lamb Weston before her retirement. Survivors include daugh- ter Paula Egea of Las Vegas, Nev.; son Kelly Bissinger and daughter-in-law Dawn Bissinger; grandsons Bryce Bissinger and wife Ariana, and Lee Bissinger; granddaughter Pamela Sams; and great-grands on Ryan Sams. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister Alida, stepsis- ters Gwendora and Frances; and an infant brother.
