WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8, 2018 OBITUARIES James R. Becker Jimmie R. Bevan Hermiston March 8, 1941 - August 2, 2018 Irrigon August 23, 1974 - July 30, 2018 James R. Becker was born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 8, 1941, the son of James H. And Alice (Davis) Becker. He passed away in Walla Walla, Washington, on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at the age of 77. James grew up and attended his Becker schooling in Wayne County, Michi- gan. After high school, he moved to Southern Cal- ifornia where he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and honorably served our country. After his discharge, he stayed in Southern Califor- nia working as a journey- man electrician for 18 years as a member of the IBEW Local #11. In 1980 he began his work as a pastor, begin- ning in Southern California, later he served churches in Washington and Oregon. In 1995, he moved to Hermis- ton, Oregon, where he was the pastor of the Country Church until February of 2018. James was an avid bowler, loved playing video games, he loved life, had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. James married Janice Carter in California on February 4, 1960. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice; daughters Wendy Becker of Hermiston, Sharon Lipscomb of Ana- heim, Calif., and Bonnie Baker Cook of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sons James Becker and Terry Becker, both of Wenatchee, and Aaron Becker of Hesperia, Calif.; brother Richard Becker; sister Judy Vanderwork; 15 grandchil- dren; 11 great grandchil- dren; and his church fam- ily at the Country Church in Hermiston. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice, and a brother, Eddie. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Fri- day, August 17, 2018, at the Country Church, 32742 Diagonal Road, Hermiston, Ore. Bevan of Irri- gon was born in Hermis- ton on August 23, 1974, the son of Jimmie Jr. and Brenda (Cobb) Bevan. He passed away on Mon- day July 30, 2018, in Hermiston at the age of 43. Jimmie grew up and attended school in Echo where he excelled playing football, baseball Bevan and basketball. He then attended Blue Moun- tain Community College where he studied criminal justice. He worked at Two Rivers Correctional Institute in Umatilla for the past 13 years. He began as an offi- cer and was later promoted to sergeant. Jimmie enjoyed the out- door activities of hunting and fishing, and he raised 4-H pigs for local kids. Spending time with his fam- ily was a very important part of his life. and fishing. Marlene married her high school boyfriend, Richard Brown of Condon, which lasted 21 years and pro- duced three sons. She was later mar- ried to Ralph J. Case of Umatilla, until his passing in 1999. Marlene is pre- ceded in death by her mom and dad, Mary and Harold Griffith, along with her two sisters June and Nannette. She is survived by her brother Dean Grif- fith, brother Mick Griffith and three sons, Jim Brown, John Brown and Steve Brown, along with seven grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren. A family celebration of life service will be held at the Biennial Griffith/Dav- enport family reunion: August 25, 2018, at Mt. Ver- non Grange #659 located at 59491 Highway 26, Mt. Ver- non, Oregon. Jimmie married Jeanette Baird at Hat Rock State Park on September 8, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; daughter Tanee- sha and twin sons Jimmie and Jeffrey; mother Brenda Vance of Marana, Ariz.; brother Curtis Bevan of Hermiston; sis- ter Crystal Bevan of Hermiston; and many aunts, uncles, cous- ins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie K. Bevan Jr. An informal gathering of family and friends was held at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Spillway Park below McNary Dam. September 11, 1937 - July 19, 2018 It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Marlene K. Case at the age of 80 years old. Marlene was born on September 11, 1937, and passed on July 19, 2018, due to nat- ural causes. During her life, Marlene lived in many Oregon and Washington areas, including Con- don, Ore.; Cheha- Case lis, Wash.; Uma- tilla, Ore.; Hermiston, Ore.; Pendleton, Ore.; Pilot Rock, Ore.; and ending in Bea- vercreek, Ore. Her travels even took her to Fairbanks, Alaska, for a couple years. Marlene’s work history was made up of waitress- ing, Elks Lodge cook, social work, bank teller, retail sales and, at one time, owner of her own drapery/upholstery business.
