Fire in Stanfi eld nearly burns house
HERMISTON HERALD
A fi eld fi re engulfed several piec-
es of equipment and nearly burned a
home and in Stanfi eld on Monday af-
ternoon. Crews responded to the blaze
in a fi eld off East Harding and North
Wayne streets a little before 4 p.m.,
and were able to stop it from affecting
the home near where it started.
Adrian Montoa, who lives in a
home on North Wayne Street that was
closest to the fi re, said the fl ames al-
most got his house.
“I was just sitting in my computer
room, and saw the fi re out my win-
dow,” he said, adding that it burned
the bushes near his house.
Up the hill in a fi eld, several piec-
es of farm equipment were engulfed
in the fl ames, which sent a cloud of
black smoke over the area for about
20 minutes. Firefi ghters had the blaze
under control by about 4:20 p.m.
The cause of the fi re is unknown at
this time.

was found unresponsive in
his cell around 9:39 p.m.
Security, medical staff and

tered life-saving efforts, but
were unsuccessful. Yzagu-
irre was taken to a local
hospital and pronounced
dead at 10:55 p.m.
Yzaguirre has been in
the Department of Correc-
tions’ custody since July
2015, on rape and sodomy.

a report of burglary at Buttercreek
Coff eehouse and Mercantile, 209 W.
Main St., Echo.
10:29 a.m. - Boardman residents
on Kunze Lane reported someone
stole their neighbor’s tickets to the
Farm-City Pro Rodeo at the Umatilla
County Fair, Hermiston, and when
they went to the rodeo, the people
with the tickets showed up.
4:25 p.m. - Someone slashed
tires on a vehicle on Water Street,
Heppner. The victims reported a
possible suspect who has been
harassing them.
10:07 p.m. — A runaway was
reported at East Jennie Avenue,
Hermiston.
SATURDAY, AUG. 12
1:23 a.m. — Several females
were reported fi ghting in the yard at
Northeast Fourth Street, Hermiston
12:50 p.m. — A theft was
reported at Cottage Flowers on North
First Street, of a trailer full of dance
fl oors.
11:43 p.m. — A person was shov-
ing staff at the gate on East Airport
Road, Hermiston.
FRIDAY, AUG. 11
12:39 p.m. — A woman said she
was drugged and attacked, and is
now at the 7-11 in Hermiston, on
South Highway 395.
8:04 p.m. — A caller said his
mother’s care provider assaulted her
last night at her residence on South-
east Ninth Street, and his mother
had to be taken to Good Shepherd
Hospital, where she is now.
11:36 p.m. — A fi ght was reported
at East Airport Road, Hermiston.
11:44 p.m. — A drunk driver
was reported at West Highland
Avenue and Southwest 11th Street,
Hermiston.
THURSDAY, AUG. 10
7:12 a.m. — A caller said there
was a motor vehicle accident at East
Theater Lane and Northeast Eighth
Street, where two vehicles were
running into each other several
times. Police were unable to locate
the incident.
10:05 p.m. — A caller said he was
receiving texts that said they were
going to do something to his house.
He said he did not know who the
texts were from, but they told him to
“wait until you are asleep.”

6:44 p.m. — A missing person
was reported at East Airport Road,
Hermiston.
10:20 p.m. — A missing person
was reported at East Airport
Road.
10:57 p.m. — A caller said they
saw a drunk driver going all over
the road, and now was parked on
North First Street. The caller said
the male and female in the car
hopped the fence and went into the
Midway.
TUESDAY, AUG. 8
10:29 a.m. — A caller on West
Ridgeway Avenue reported that her
husband had gone crazy, but offi cers
were unable to locate the person.
1:47 p.m. -A missing person was
reported at Northwest 12th Street,
Hermiston.

TUESDAY
• Hermiston police cited Andres
Chales Lorenzo, 24, of 1115 S.W. Sandy
Drive, Hermiston, for driving under
the infl uence of intoxicants, no
driver’s license and failure to drive
within the lane. Hermiston police
reported his blood-alcohol content
was .21 percent, almost three times
the legal limit of .08 percent.
• Hermiston police arrested
Miranda Alicia Longoria, 20, of Herm-
iston, for third-degree theft and
possession of methamphetamine.
SUNDAY
• Oregon State Police arrested
Anthony Joseph Demos, 37, of
Hermiston, for DUII (alcohol).
• Oregon State Police cited Rodri-
guez Valeria Estrada, 28, no address
provided, for DUII (alcohol).
• Oregon State Police arrested
Sergio Luna, 43, of Baker City, for
DUII and reckless driving. State po-
lice reported a trooper at about 7:45
p.m. stopped a white Honda Accord
on Umatilla River Road near milepost
3 for driving north in the southbound
lane. Luna was too drunk to try a
sobriety test, state police reported.
Two breath samples showed his
blood-alcohol level was .324 percent
and .306 percent, both well above
the .08 percent legal limit.

• Hermiston police arrested
Nicolas Landeros Garza, 19, of Irrigon,
for possession of methamphetamine
and on two warrants for failure to
appear.
• Hermiston police arrested
Jonathan Rains, 19, of Hermiston, for
possession of methamphetamine
and on two warrants for failure to
appear.
•Hermiston police arrested Tate
Brandon Patterson, 34, of Pendleton,
for fi rst-degree theft, possession of
burglary tools and on warrants for
failure to appear.
FRIDAY
• Daniel Valencia Manso, 68,
of Umatilla, tried to buy a gun at
Columbia Outdoor Sports & Surplus
Inc., Hermiston, but Oregon State Police
reported the failure-to-appear warrant
for his arrest put a nix on the sale. State
police booked Valencia Manso into
the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton,
on the warrant and referred charges
of unlawful purchase of a fi rearm and
false swearing to the Umatilla County
District Attorney’s Offi ce.
• Oregon State Police arrested
Lisa Michelle Spain, 55, no address
provided, for DUII.
THURSDAY
• The Umatilla County Sheriff ’s
Offi ce cited one person for driving
under the infl uence of intoxicants
outside the Eastern Oregon Trade
and Event Center, 1705 E. Airport
Road, Hermiston. The sheriff ’s offi ce
did not identify the driver in its
media bulletin.
