May 29, 1959-February 27, 2017 Boardman May 6, 1961-March 13, 2017 Mark Rouska, 52, passed away after a long battle with kidney cancer. He was born in Aberdeen, Washington, to James and Maxine Rouska on Sept. 19, 1964. Mark enjoyed life surrounded by his siblings Celeste Johnson-Maret, Les Rouska, Ted Rouska, Lonnie Rouska, Ni- cole Wyscaver, and Rouska their spouses. Mark enjoyed fi shing, sports and spending time with family. Mark graduated from Condon High School and then continued his edu- cation. Through years of study he earned a master’s degree in education and a master’s degree in busi- ness administration. Mark found his calling working with youth at the Boys and Girls Club of Salem. Later he entered the fi eld of edu- cation, teaching social sci- ences and special education in Morrow County School District. Mark felt that all of his students deserved his time and respect. He was a compassionate educator who was well known for his sense of humor inside and outside of the class- room. Mark is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patrice, and his chil- dren Aaron and Kris- tine and her husband Adrian, along with his surrogate chil- dren Richard Her- nandez, Leo Reinelt, Ivo Steinbrecher, and Golf. He was an honorable man, well loved by family and friends. A Celebration of Life and potluck lunch is open to the public on Saturday, April 8, at 1 p.m. at A.C. Houghton Elementary in Irrigon, Or- egon. Per Mark’s wishes, we encourage you to wear your favorite sports team apparel or Hawaiian shirts for a family-friendly soft- ball game following the reception. We hope you will participate or stay to cheer on family and friends. In lieu of fl owers or gifts please donate to your local school district or the Amer- ican Cancer Society. Dale Lance ‘Humpy’ McCoy Wellington, Ariz. March 9, 1946-March 13, 2017 Dale Lance “Humpy” Mc- Coy died March 13, 2017, in Wel- lington, Arizo- na. He was born March 9, 1946, to Carroll W. and Rena Zylstra McCoy in Yakima, Washing- ton. He graduated from Umatilla High School in 1964, and joined the United States Air Force, McCoy serving from Octo- ber 1964 to July 1969. He worked on the Ra- mos Ranch in Echo for many years before and after the military. He worked on the toll bridge after his time in the service, and worked for the city of Umatilla for six years. He retired from the Umatilla County Road Department in 2003. He was also with the Umatilla Fire Department for about 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Melody A. McCoy; his daughters Lisa Mc- Coy and Teressa Jensen (Aaron) both of Hermis- ton; stepchildren Maurine Cline of Hermiston, Sherri Olofson (Trent) of Sand- point, Idaho, Earl Snyder of Seattle, and Darrell Snyder of Safford, Arizo- na; sister Lynn Uit- to (Irv) of Umatilla; and brother Dennis McCoy (Margie) of Hermiston. He had 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Car- roll and Rena McCoy, and brother, Gordon McCoy. Dale was loved by so many friends and family. He loved to hunt, fi sh and go camping, being “Uncle Dumpy,” and traveling with his wife. Memorial services will be held June 17, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Umatilla High School gymnasium. The people got out of the car. SUNDAY, MARCH 19 12:00 p.m. - A vehicle possi- bly ran through a fence at North- west Geer Road, Hermiston. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15 8:32 a.m. - A caller reported seeing a male throw a female down the stairs by her hair outside their residence, at West Oak Avenue, Hermiston. SATURDAY, MARCH 18 1:50 a.m. - A man at Midway Tavern brandished a weapon in a black SUV, North First Street, Hermiston. 6:49 a.m. - There was a male threatening suicide on South Highway 395, Hermiston. 1:46 p.m. - A male reported a gang fight on Cherry Street, Hermiston. When asked how many were involved, he stated someone pulled out a gun, and disconnected. FRIDAY, MARCH 17 4:49 p.m. - A caller reported that some mail was left in her outgoing mailbox that was addressed to the White House. THURSDAY, MARCH 16 7:34 a.m. - A black bull was loose at Northeast 10th Street, Hermiston. 10:37 p.m. -A man was trying to cause a fight in the bar at Last Chance Tavern, SW 11th Avenue, Hermiston. TUESDAY, MARCH 14 12:39 a.m. - A woman report- ed that her husband is intoxi- cated and being mean, at West Sunland Avenue, Hermiston. 1:04 p.m. - At Denny’s on South Highway 395, four people in a Ford Fusion spray painted graffiti on the parking lot, then left in an unknown direction. 8:06 p.m. - A man and wom- an were hitting each other in a vehicle on Umatilla River Road, Hermiston. 9:37 a.m. - A caller reported that someone at East Highland Avenue, Hermiston, has been missing since 8 a.m. Robert Roland Broun was born to James Broun and Joyce Eldridge in Bremerton, Washington. He is survived by his hus- band, Daryl Tran; mother, Joyce Broun of Pendleton; neph- ew, Jimmy Broun; and cousins Jim and Phil Hummell. After college, he moved to Fajardo, Puerto Rico, to live Broun with his dad for fi ve years and worked on drones. Then he was hired by Aramco and worked as a technician for several years. Robert got to travel to Sau- di Arabia and Kuwait. Fi- nally, he landed a job with GTE as a project manager. Robert and his team of en- gineers were in charge of setting up communication satellites in other countries. This job provided Robert the opportunity to work and live in Burkino Faso, West Africa, and Egypt. Robert retired from GTE and moved to the Bay Area. He lived in San Francisco, Berkeley and Tibu- ron. In 2006 Robert met Daryl and they have been insepara- ble ever since. They moved to Novato in 2009. On July 13, 2013, Robert mar- ried the love of his life, Daryl. They were fortunate to have trav- eled to Italy, China, Puerto Vallarta, and Spain. Rob- ert and Daryl celebrated their 10-year anniversary in Spain. They had the time of their lives. Robert was a social and friendly person who was loved by all those whom he came in contact with. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Robert’s spirit will live in all of us. Frank N. Brown Hermiston December 30, 1927-March 17, 2017 Frank N. Brown of Hermiston, Oregon, was born on Dec. 30, 1927, in Maryland to parents Dil- ver and Stella Payne Brown. He died on March 17, 2017, in Richland, Washing- ton, at the age of 89 years. He served in the United States Army Brown Air Corps as a fi re- man in the Philip- pines during World War II until his hon- orable discharge. Frank was united in marriage to Betty R. Hodge on June 1, 1947. They moved Brown their family from Vir- ginia to Hermiston, Oregon, in August of 1961, where he has lived since. Frank worked for Stew- art’s Market for many years working as a cashier, stock- ing the shelves, in mainte- nance or anywhere he was needed. He later worked for IGA for several years. Frank enjoyed wood- working, hunting, fi shing, cutting fi rewood, mounting antlers for friends and fam- ily, and going for drives in the mountains. He cherished the time he was able to spend with his family, passing the love of the outdoors onto them. Frank was always there to help his children and lend a hand to help anyone wherever he could. He was recognized earlier this year in an East Oregonian article, “who at the age of 89 was out with his tractor clear- ing everyone’s driveways.” Frank made many friends over the years with many of the farmers and ranchers on Big and Little Buttercreek. He would often stop by and share stories and a Mtn. Dew with them. Frank was very thankful and consid- ered himself very rich that the Lord blessed him with such a won- derful family. He is survived by his children: Tom and wife Kristy, Larry and wife Sha- ron, Danny and wife Cathy, Darlene and husband Matt, Susan and husband Jim, and Carolyn; sister Marylou Davis; brothers Maynard, Dale and Duane Brown; grandchildren Dar- ci, Jeromie, Dwayne, Jes- sica, Maranda, Katie, Nik- kie and Justin; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, his par- ents, grandchildren Ket- ra, Rebecca and Rob; a great-granddaughter, Kara; a sister, Edith Blankenship; and brothers Merle Brown and Lavone Brown. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Herm- iston First Christian Church, Hermiston, Oregon. Gibson of Boardman, Oregon, was born on May 6, 1961, in Weaverville, California. She died on March 13, 2017, in Richland, Washington, at the age of 55 years. She had grad- uated from Leba- non High School in the class of 1979. Jolene had worked for Lamb Weston Gibson in Boardman for 35 years where she was a lab technician. Jolene enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends, and at the Oregon Coast. She is survived by her mother Anita Tittman of Irrigon; daughters Jennifer Arms and Kimberly Berg, both of Boardman.; brother David Reed, Lebanon, Ore- gon; sisters Jadene Dicker- son of Umatilla, Lisa Miller of Albany, and Terri Carter of Umatilla; grandchildren: Nyko- lai Berg and Mykaela Berg, both of Board- man.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dolores Jean (Brown) Pinney Hermiston June 5, 1926-February 15, 2017 Dolores Jean (Brown) Pinney of Hermiston, Ore- gon ,was born June 5, 1926, in Weed, California, to par- ents Raymond and Goldie (Sparks) Brown. She died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, in Hermiston at the age of 90. Jean graduated as valedictorian in 1944 from Irrigon High School. After Pinney one year at Eastern Oregon College in La Grande, Oregon, she moved to Los Angeles where her great-aunt Elva op- erated a beauty shop. Jean became a fash- ion model and was Pinney selected Miss Hol- lywood at age 21, receiv- ing a month’s vacation in Hawaii. After moving to New York City where her fa- ther’s sister Blanche (stage name: Ruth Chandler) per- formed in stage plays, Jean became a Powers Model and had photos placed in many magazines. She be- came a cover girl on several magazines, including Mini- cum Photography, Pageant and Redbook. Jean moved back to Los Angeles where she met her husband, Robert Pinney, whom she married in 1951. After moving to San Fran- cisco, they became archi- tectural contractors in that area. Among many other accomplishments, Jean was an expert seamstress. After her husband’s death in 1996, Jean moved to Hermiston to be closer to her brother Bob and his family. Preceding Jean in death were her parents, stepfather, several stepsisters, husband, nephew Gary Brown, and her brother Rob- ert “Bob” Brown. Jean is survived by her niece Vickie, nephew Daryl, step- sister Patty, sister- in-law Ellen, numer- ous great-nephews, a great niece and sev- eral cousins. The family thanks the Good Shepherd staff, Guardian Angel caregivers, and Vange John Hospice for their care. Special thanks are also extended to Jean’s helpful neighbors and Burns Mortuary staff. Family and friends will remember Jean’s many tal- ents and accomplishments during her long life. More Alzheimer’s research does need to be continued for the benefi t of many. A graveside Celebration of Life service for family and friends will be con- ducted on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery where she will be interred by her beloved husband.
