Th e song has been widely covered, including a “Saturday Night Live” parody, “Matzo Man.” 2. Leonard Cohen, in 1967. Marianne was Cohen’s muse until her death in 2016. Cohen died three months later. 3. “Sounds of Silence” (1965), “Mrs. Rob- inson” (1968) and “Bridge Over Trou- bled Water” (1970). 4. Th e Brothers Johnson, a Motown R&B band, in 1976. Th e song was later covered by Vanessa Williams. 5. “She’s Out of My Life,” by Michael Jack- son. Jackson netted four Top 10 hits from his “Off the Wall” album, including this song, one of his slowest ever. His tears at the end of the song were genuine.
