Elks Lodge hosts memorial service The Coffey Family will provide special music during the annual memorial service at the Hermiston Elks Lodge. The ceremony honors members of the lodge who have died. The event, which is open to the public, is Sun- day at 10 a.m. at the lodge, 480 E. Main St., Hermiston. The service will be conduct- ed by lodge officers and past exalted rulers of Elks Lodge No. 1845. A brunch will be available afterwards in the dining room. Fair seeks court applicants turn in information by noon Monday, Dec. 19. Late ap- plications or those with missing forms or required documentation will not be considered. Nominees sought for HSD alumnus award Hermiston School District is taking submissions for the 2017 Distinguished Alumnus Award. The annual award, in its third year, recognizes a Herm- iston graduate who is a leader in his or her chosen field and community. The 2016 recipi- ent was Alan Keown, a 1975 HHS graduate who is a mu- sician, percussion teacher and arranger of music. The 2017 Distinguished Alumnus will be announced at Hermiston High School’s Evening of Excellence on May 10 and be a featured speaker at the high school’s commencement ceremony June 3, as well as other role model opportunities through- out the 2017-2018 school year. Grand jury charges burglary suspect The Arlington man arrest- ed after break-ins and thefts in Irrigon now faces 26 criminal counts. Ty Cody Davies, 23, plead- ed not guilty to all charges at an arraignment Wednesday in Morrow County Circuit Court, Heppner. The charges stem from an indictment a grand jury hand- ed up Tuesday, Nov. 22. The state accuses Davis of com- mitting the crimes against eight people Nov. 14 and 15.
