A6 • HERMISTONHERALD.COM Day of Prayer event set for May 5 Area residents are in- vited to participate in the National Day of Prayer with a free, non-denom- inational event in Herm- iston. The Day of Prayer event will be Thursday, May 5, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Armand Larive Mid- dle School, 1497 SW 9th St. Organizer Rob Lovett said last year about 200 people attended, and this year they hope to in- crease that number. The service includes prayer time for the each of the seven “pillars of soci- ety”: government, the military, the media, the business community, educational institutions, churches and families. “We’re going to be praying for different levels of government and society in general,” Lovett said. Worship music by the New Beginnings praise team will be interspersed throughout. “I think the music is going to be very good,” Lovett said. The service is going to be broadcast live by La Ley 99.5 FM radio with Spanish translation. Lovett said people of faith all over the coun- try feel the nation is at a “critical point at this time” and it is import- ant to pray for guidance for the country’s deci- sion-makers. For more information about the National Day of Prayer movement, visit www.nationalday- ofprayer.org.
