Community Action Program of East Central Oregon PROGRAM OVERVIEW We provide information, education and resource referral for low- to moderate-income individuals and families who are interested in pursuing home ownership. We can connect individuals and families to mortgage and down payment resources as well as provide training and counsel to assist in the decision of owning a home. CAPECO is the Eastern Oregon Regional Housing Center. CAPECO offers a full complement of housing options including one-time rental assis- tance, long term rent subsidies and homeownership education services. Addi- tional services in Pendleton may include prescription assistance, fuel vouchers, and laundry vouchers. Marci: mcmurphy@capeco-works.org Employment and training services can provide work readiness training, post-secondary and/or vocational training, on–the-job training, support services, job placement and follow up services. www.capeco-works.org Senior services are provided through the Area Agency on Aging Department (AAA). The goal of the AAA is to assist aging populations to remain at home as long as possible. Services include food & nutrition, transportation, cargiver services, money management, Legal Aid of Oregon referrals, volunteer services, and more. Mission: Tenisha: twaugh@capeco-works.org Assisting people to become indepen- dent, healthy and safe. Energy services may include Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, case man- aged energy assistance, shut-off utility assistance, weatherization, and home energy education. CAPECO serves as the Regional Food Bank for Oregon Food Bank, which supplies USDA commodities and donated food to area food banks, meal site programs, and three no-kill animal shelters. The Oregon Food Bank ships USDA commodities and donated food to our 10,000 square ft. warehouse and then we distribute the product to the local member agencies. In addition, CAPECO acquires local donations through numerous events, such as: State Employees Food Drive, Letter Carriers Food Drive, schools, youth clubs, churches and from local food industry companies. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Charitable contributions, gifts of cash, gift by will, gift in trust or annuities, gift of life insurance, gift of real estate VOLUNTEER Volunteers are utilized in two areas of CAPECO, at the food share (airport location), and senior services (various locations). Volunteers perform a variety of tasks including project development, fundraising, driving, visiting home- bound clients, working with community groups, and much more. GIVING GUIDE 2015-2016 • 13
