He died on March 28, 2015, in Hermiston, Ore- gon, at the age of 89 Greene years. Virgil was raised and attended school in Weiser, Idaho. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943. Virgil served in the European Theater for 15 months during WWII and was honorably dis- charged in 1946 and re- turned to Weiser, Idaho. Virgil was united in marriage to Joan Townley on December 27, 1950, in Winnemucca, Nevada. They lived in Weiser, Ida- ho, where Virgil worked on the railroad and during WKHVXPPHU¿UHVHDVRQDV a smoke jumper in Mc- Call, Idaho, from 1948 through 1950. In 1954 they moved to Ordnance, and Virgil went to work at the Umatilla Army Depot. He worked as an ammuni- tion inspector for 28 years before retiring in 1982. DEATH NOTICE H o w - ard Rankin Peck was born June 29, 1922, at San Diego, California, to parents Issaac Rankin & Marie Leslie (Car- lyle) Peck. He died Friday, March 27, 2015, at Canterbury Gardens Nursing fa- cility in Longview, Washington, at the Peck age of 92. He was raised in San Di- ego and graduated from San Diego High School. How- ard served in the Army Air Force during World War II as a tail gunner in a heavy bomber and was a POW for 16 months in Stalag 17B. On October 22, 1947, he married Annamae Zenzo- la Peterson. Annamae died December 13, 1989, and is buried in Hermiston. On June 22, 1990 How- ard married Beverly Jean Buchanan in Hermiston and they have lived in Ham- mond, Oregon, for the past 10 years. He was the co-founder of the Coos Bay Art League in Coos Bay, Oregon, a member of the Uma-West Art Group in Hermiston, Oregon, and a member of the Trails End Art Associ- ation in Gearhart, Oregon.
