Funeral arrangements are pending at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston. OBITUARIES JoAnn Aleda Seifer Joan F. Doherty Yakima, Wash. August 15, 1937-March 22, 2015 Lexington November 17, 1941-March 25, 2015 JoAnn Aleda Seifer was born on August 15, 1937, in Long Beach, California, to parents Emmett and Laveta Blanche Haines Williams. She died on March 22, 2015, in Yakima, Washington, at the age of 77 years. JoAnn lived in Echo, Oregon, from 1972 until moving to Yakima, Washington, in 2006 where she has lived since. She retired Seifer from the Umatilla Army Depot after proudly serving 32 years in various civilian positions. JoAnn had a passion for patriotism. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 922, and had served as department presi- dent of the Oregon State VFW Auxiliary in 2004. JoAnn is remembered for her strong will and stronger opinions. She was obstinate and ornery, the qualities that endeared her to those who loved her most. She is survived by her sons Ernie Thomas, Echo, Ore., Marvin Seifer (Gwen), Medford, Ore., and Patrick Seifer (Amy), PRC (China); daughter Georgia Smede- ma (Butch), Yakima, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. JoAnn was pre- ceded in death by her husband: Dale Seifer in 1988, and daughter Patsy Mae Seifer in 2002. A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Echo Cemetery, Echo, Oregon. That church was located at the corner of Highway 395 and Gladys Avenue, which is currently the site of a service station. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anni- versary during a recent two-week vacation in Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii. Both Clyde and Betty graduated from Umatilla High School, in 1952 and 1954 respectively, and Clyde from Oregon State University in 1960. They have three children, 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
