Billy James Benson Jr. William ‘Bill’ Wunduke Portland April 16, 1941-January 1, 2015 Umatilla March 30, 1932-January 10, 2015 B i l l y James Ben- son Jr., born April 16, 1941, passed January 1, 2015. Bill (Doc) was born in Portland, 2UHJRQWKH¿UVWVRQ of Lula and Billy James Benson Sr. He graduated early from high school in Fossil, Oregon. Just prior to graduation Benson Bill married Yvonne /RUHQJHO¿UVWERUQRI%HW- ty and Louis Lorengel. He lived in Kinzua, Or- egon, for a very short time prior to enlisting in the Navy January 20, 1959, where he followed in his father’s footsteps by be- coming an Independent Ad- vanced Medical Corpsman. Bill received multiple types of training in the Navy in- cluding X-ray technician and advanced war injury lifesaving, just to mention a few. Bill worked in nu- merous locations including Japan, two tours in Viet- nam and multiple locations throughout the US. Bill also worked outside of the Navy as a physician assistant, “Doc” at a Boy Scout camp near Angel Camp, Califor- nia, and as a bartender. After 20-plus years in the Navy he retired as an HMC (Advanced Hospital Corpsman) Chief Petty Of- ¿FHUDQGPRYHGWR1HWDUWV Oregon. Once there, he was ready for a change and slower pace. Bill worked for the Tillamook School District until retiring from there to spend time with family, friends and do- ing his favorite hobbies of playing golf, woodworking and restoring cars. Always liking the warm weather, Bill and Yvonne made their attempt of becoming “snow birds” but it was cut short due to health issues. In 2011 they moved to Port- land where they lived until Bill was called to be with all of those that have gone before him. Bill is sur- vived by his wife of 56 years, Yvonne; one brother, Lar- ry Benson of Hermiston; sons Danny and Teresa Benson of Klamath Falls, Oregon, their three children Tiffa- ny Olson (husband Tim) of Salem, Or- egon, Crystal Ben- son-Tate of Klam- ath Falls, Oregon, Michael Benson (wife Ashley) of Klamath Falls; son Donny and Kim Benson of Irri- gon, Oregon, their two sons Nick Benson (wife Ashley) of Hermiston, Oregon, and Chris Benson of Irrigon, Oregon; son Shawn Ben- son (Tammy Woodring) and their children Debra Benson of Netarts and Zane Woodring of Tillamook; six great-grandchildren: Damian, Daniel, Kohen, Addison, Keila and Bri- elle; two sister in-laws, Linda Williams of Netarts, Oregon, and Joan Benson of Hayden, Idaho; and one brother-in-law, Ldee (wife Debbie) Lorengel and their two children Katrina and Jimmie Oates and Nathan Lorengel. JANUARY 14 • A caller reported hearing about nine gunshots on West Sunland Avenue. • Several units at a warehouse on Southeast Campbell Drive were reportedly broken into, and items were stolen and trashed. • On Rudder Lane, a caller reported items stolen in June were being sold on Facebook. • A female in a white car reportedly almost hit a gas attendant while “trying to get away” from a station on Highway 207 without paying for gas. • A caller reported his gold watch was stolen from a van on Highway 395 in Umatilla. Gloria Ann Mullay Hermiston December 6, 1929-January 8, 2015 Gloria Ann Mullay, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2015, in Hermiston. She was born on December 6, 1929, in Lewistown, Mon- tana, to George and Ann Grieser Sobotta. She graduated from Lapwai (Idaho) High School in 1947 and received her higher education from Lew- is-Clark Normal and Mullay Eastern Washington University. On August 19, 1950, she married Patrick E. Mullay in Lewiston, Idaho. They came to Hermiston in 1959, where she taught fourth grade at West Park Elementary School until her retirement. She loved to travel and attended many reading con- ferences worldwide. She was able to visit such places as Australia, China, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey and the Ukraine. She continued her travels after retirement when- ever possible. Survivors include sons Kevin of Portland, Ore., Bob (Lois) of Hermiston and Mick of Kiev, Ukraine; grandchil- dren Daniel Mullay of Herm- iston, Kayla Mullay of Bain- bridge Island, Wash., Stefani Mullay of Hermiston and Mariah Gatti of West Linn, Ore.; brothers Jack and Jerry Sobotta both of Herm- iston, and Bob Sobotta of Boise, Idaho; and sister Rosemary Webb of Lapwai, Idaho.
