Of much interest to their many
local friends, was the wedding
Sunday of Miss Patty Emert,
daughter of Mrs. W. A. Emert,
and Lee Pettyjohn, Platoon Sgt.,
U. S. Marines, son of Noah Petty
john of Ione. The ceremony was
performed at 5:00 o'clock in the
Christian church parsonage in
Pendleton with Rev. O. D. Harris,
pastor, officiating at a double
ring ceremony. Near relatives
were present at the quiet ceremo
ny.
Mrs. Pettyjohn wore a white
satin wedding dress with finger
tip veil, and carried a white Tes- |
tament and an orchid. The groom
was in uniform of the U. S. Ma
rines. Following, a wedding din- |
ner was enjoyed at the Pendleton
Hotel with a small group of
friends present.
Mr. Pettyjohn, who recently re
turned from 26 months of service
in the South Pacific war zone, will
report to his base in San Diego
soon. He will be accompanied
there by Mrs. Pettyjohn, their fu
ture plans depending on his or-!
ders.
Mrs. Pettyjohn is a graduate of
Hermiston high school and in re
cent years has been employed at
Moore’s furniture store. Mr. Pet
tyjohn is a graduate of Heppner
high school and attended Oregon
College of Education at Mon
mouth and Eastern Oregon Col

ing the service. ___
