Rogers arrived last Wednesday morning from Florida to spend a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Rogers of the Columbia district. Cpl. Rogers is engaged in commu nications work in the Army Air Forces, and has to report to Mis souri April 30 for further duty. Pfc. Albert G. Isensee, son of Mrs. Mayme B. Baumgartner of Hermiston, has been promoted to the rank of Corporal at the Dyers burg (Tenn.) Army Air Field. He is a member of a Flying Fortress crew. The Army Air Field at Dyersburg is an installation of the Third Air Force which trains hea vy bomber crews. An interesting family reunion was enjoyed Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hallie Clark in the North Hill district. Present were Howard Clark, Wishram, Wash.: Sgt. Kenneth Clark, recent ly returned from Africa; Mrs. L. D. Tilden, Newberg, Ore.; Mrs. Margaret Monaghan, Wishram, Wash.; and Mr. and Mrs. John Dallman and family of Stanfield. This was the first reunion for members of the family in five years. The Women’s Council of the Christian Church met in the club house in Victory Square Wednes day, April 18. with about 30 lad ies present. A lunch was served at noon and business meeting was held in the afternoon. Mrs. Bes sie Thompson brought the devo tion, and Mrs. A. H. Buell gave a missionary lesson. Mrs. James Bartholomew received a shower. A district meeting will be held in Pendleton May 4. with a covered dish luncheon at noon. An enjoyable social hour of cards and refreshments was held following the last regular meeting of the Order of the Eastern Star, April 11th. Donations from mem bers present totaled $11.00 to ap ply on the electric signet—the goal of the Worthy Matron during her term of office. The signet will cost around $180.00, of which $51 has been raised. The next meeting, April 25th, will honor Mrs. Chloe Refvem and Miss Elva Berry of Stanfield, who are soon leaving this community 1 to make their home in California.
