RED & WHITE STORE Just to prove that there are some good people outside of Ore gon, the following incident is re lated. A four page, single type writer spaced letter was received this week by Mr. and Mrs. Guy Shaw from Henry A. Meier, an at torney at Lincoln, Nebr. The let ter related that Pfc. Lee G. Shaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. Shaw, was a Christmas dinner guest at the Meier home with several other service men. The lengthy letter explains in detail of the happenings of the visit, about the conversation, the meal, and other entertainment. Apparently Mr. and Mrs. Meier make a hobby of entertaining ser vice boys and according to the let ter also enjoy it very much. In addition to the letter was a box full of miniature wooden articles made by Mr. Meier in his work shop, another hobby. Needless to say, Mr. and Mrs. Shaw enjoyed the letter articles. When cooked in milk they have added nutritional value as well as a different flavor. Using brown sugar instead of white on cereals gives them a new flavor. Molasses for sweetening is very good, and if eggs are scarce, it helps make up for the iron we would normally get from them. A crispness and added flavor is given to ready-to-serve cereals if heated in a moderate oven (375° F.) a few minutes before serving.
