THURSDAY. OCTOBER 26, BOARDMAN NEWS 4 Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miles re- reived news Saturday that their son, Pfc. Jack Miles, has been miss ing in action in France Since Sep- ti mber 21. Regular grange meeting was held Saturday night. Those par ticipating in the program were Crystal Barlow, Mr. Baker and Minnie McFarland. Those answer- ing the birthday response were Mr. and Mrs. Baker. Harold Bak- er. Minnie McFarland and Mr. Lehman. Refreshments were served after the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. N. Macomber and grandchildren motored to Pendle ton on business Saturday. Low Hamilton, Eldon Lilly, Del bert Carpenter and Ernie Peck were deer hunting this week. All returned without their game. Mrs. Ray Brown motored to Hermiston on business Friday. The Grange is sponsoring a dis cussion of the bills to be voted on November 7, at the grange hall on October 31. This is a public dis cussion and everyone is urged to attend. Ernest Tyler left Sunday after noon for Fort Lewis where he is to take his final Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Van Metre and Crystal Barlow were in The Dalles on business Sunday. Daniel Ransier, who is stationed at the Ordnance Dept., at Pasco, was home visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Ransier, Monday. Dave Johnston, former resident in Boardman, was a hunting guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Wilson over the week end. Jack Getz left Sunday for his final examination. He is to report to Ft. Lewis. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johnston from Umatilla visited friends in Board man Sunday. Mrs. Nick Faler and Mrs. Tress Spring are visiting friends here in Boardman for a few days. Bill Harrington left for Portland Sunday to visit friends there. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith, resi dents of Boardman since 1919, were given a farewell party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Mc Farland Sunday. Old timers and neighbors who were invited were: Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kunze and grand- sons, Mr. and Mrs. I. Skoubo and family, Mr. and Mrs. L. Root, Mrs. Warner, Ralph Wasmer, Mrs. At- tebury, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brown and Reo, Mr. and Mrs. N. Macom ber, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Anderegg and Barbara. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sou ders. Edith Hendricks, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Stout, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Cas sidy and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gardiner. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ely and family, Tom Hendricks and Douglas, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johns- ton, and Effie Bullock. Mr. and Mrs. Smith are moving to a farm located near Union.
