Garden Club Has Meeting The “Out for Victory” garden club met at the home of its leader, Elisa beth Jones, February 27. The topic of discussion was different kinds of seeds which was followed by a dem onstration on how to plant tomato seeds. After the meeting adjourned, refreshments of fried chicken, buns and egg jello were served. Anyone in the Columbia district interested in the garden club is asked to please con tact the leader. Mr. and Mrs. Neal Bleakney of Mabton were here for Mr. Weston’s funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith received word that their son Charles had an operation on his nose. His nose was injured when he was kicked in the face by a horse at school when he was in the first grade. The bones were so crooked that they pressed on a vein causing his nose to bleed a great deal, and also one nostril was nearly closed. A small glass full of bones was taken out of his nose in the operation which took two hours to perform. He is retting along fine at the latest re port. Charles is still stationed at Bo ca Raton Field. Florida, and states that it is very hot there. Mrs. George Daniels and Billy went to Portland Thursday night to spend a few days visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pearson are the parents of a daughter born this week at the Hermiston General hospital. I. Skoubo took a load of potatoes to Pendleton Friday. Mrs. Paul Smith went with him to visit her son Bob who is in the hospital there. Francea Skoubo and Ernabelle Peck returned with them to spend the week end. Paul Jacobson of Beaverton spent the week end at the Francis Harter home. Aldis Emmerson of Laurelwood spent the week end with his mother, Mrs. Harry Thorpe. Earl Forbes and family of Irrigon visited friends on the project Sunday.
