Whitney have sold their place to Lyle Mulky and plan to leave for California , in the near future because of Mr. Whitney’s health. Boardman defeated Irrigon here at the baseball diamond Thursday. She went to Spokane Monday where she was called by the serious illness of her grandmother. Mrs Glenn Ostrom was hostess to the pinochle club at her home last Wednesday evening. Places were set for Mrs. Oliver McNabb. Mrs. Al Vieg. Mrs. Dean Newgard. Mrs. John Nvo and the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Al Vieg spent Mon- day in Pendleton shoppig. They also visited at the Paul Bothwell home. Mrs. Gus Frasolus and daughter I Leona. Sara Wurster and Eleanor Ac kert spent Saturday in Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. George McNabb have moved to Boardman where Mr. Mc- Nabb will be employed. Mr. and Mrs. R. E- McNabb and children, Mrs. John Wurster and Sa- ra spent Tuesday in Pendleton. Mrs. John Mustard and Mrs. Oli- ver McNabb spent Tuesday in Pen dleton on business. Mrs. John Nye of Hermiston accompanied them. BOARDMAN NEWS By Margaret Thorpe Mrs. C. T. Odenborg of St. Helens and Mrs. R. Sampson of Salem spent. Wednesday at the Lloyd Stoltnow home. Mrs. Odenborg is a sister and Mrs. Sampson is the mother of Mrs. Stoltnow. They came home with Mr. and Mrs. Stoltnow when they returned from Seattle Tuesday. Mr. Stoltnow expects to leave the first of the week for Alaska where he will be in de fense work. Mrs. Stoltnow will go when she can make boat reservations. Ladies interested in taking a course in home nursing met with Mrs. Thom as at the school house Tuesday after- noon Plans for the course were discussed and the first meeting will be next Tuesday. About ten ladies will attend this class. Emma Nell Walpole was honored with a party on her sixth birthday at her home Wednesday. About 20 child ren attended the party. A softball game was played at Boardman Tuesday with Irrigon and logal grade school teams playing- Boardman won with a score of 20-11. Cecil Hamilton has taken the place of Bob Harwood as janitor and bus driver at school. The high school softball team went to Irrigon Thursday where they de feated the Irrigon team with a score of 29 to 17. The boys went on to Her miston where they attended a show. The flight strip is to be enlarged to double its size. The number of men and trucks will also be greatly in creased. , . , The fifth and sixth grade girls gave a farewell party for Barbara and Margie Graves at school Friday after noon. A gift was presented to each ^Mildred Miller and Maxine Ely gave a farewell party for all the Graves children at the Ely home Thursday evening. About 60 child ren attended the party. The Graves family will leave in the next few days for Sparta where they will make their home. . , , . The fifth and sixth grade room at school gave a program Thursday af- ternoon which several mothers attend- ed. They presented the program again Friday for the high school. A party was given in the school auditorium Friday night by the high school students. The evening was spent playing games and dancing. Russell Miller went to Portland Wednesday to bring home his new truck. He drove his coupe down which he traded in on the truck. He returned home Saturday. Mrs. Effie Miller of Portland ar rived Friday evening to spend sever al weeks at the home of her son Rus sell Miller. . Elizabeth and Buddy Kristensen and mother motored to Portland Wed- nesday where Buddy will have a medi cal examination.
