These war units will then be used to determine a farmers elegibili ty to purchase farm machinery, sup plies and other things that require a priority or a purchase certificate from the County Farm Machinery board or the Co aty War Board. Included in this is the deferment of labor on the farm. Each farm employee, to be deferred, must have 16 war units. The remaining 183 farmers who have not signed up may call at the assistant county agent’s office to get this taken care of. A total of 367 of the 550 farmers of West Umatilla county have signed up to do their part in the food pro duction program for 1943. Farmers have been assisted by the AAA com munity committeemen in this sign-up for the last two weeks at the Hermis- ton USO building.
