FARM FOLKS
Six million farm families of the
United States must feed our six
million fighting men, 12 million de-
fense workers, thirteen million civil-
ian families, and provide food for
themselves.
In order that these millions of
people may be fed every farm family
on both large and small acreages
must triple their production. The
farmers have pledged themselves to
produce this food and the farm wom-
en have pledged themselves to pre-
serve all that is necessary for their
families. The homemaker has the
additional problem of planning three
nutritive meals a day. These three
meals are especially enjoyable and
valuable if they are well balanced
and contain the right foods. You

Yes, we are in the war and all of us must plan
now to do our part in meeting the various emergen
cies that arise. Housewives must do more canning,
Food for Victory gardens must be planted, farmers
must increase their acreage and conserve on mach
inery, car owners must save tires and gasoline; we
all have a part to play.
Hermiston merchants are planning to cooperate
by attempting to meet these emergencies to the best
of their abilities. The Rohrman Motor Co. is featur

of workers in our midst, and so on down the line.
As the weeks go on, The Hermiston Herald will
attempt to run articles which will suggest new and
varied methods whereby individuals can do their
bit for the duration.
In short, let’s work together, let’s trade at home,
let’s win this war.
