BUILDING OPERATIONS BEGUN 30, Stanfield High School (Continued from Page One) building is being constructed under the supervision of the United States army but will be operated upon com pletion by the United Service organi zation. For the time being, the recreation al program for Hermiston is being sponsored by the U.S.O. and W. P. A., the latter organization represented by George Wallace. Miss Johnson and Mr. Wallace have prepared the Her miston reclamation building for use of the public until the new building is completed. Avaliable now are ping pong tables, darts, numerous games, reading mat erial. letter writing facilities and countless other features. Later on it is planned to organize volley ball, badminton and other teams which will utilize ,the high school gymnasium. The facilities are free to the general public. Miss Opal Boynton, national staff representative of U.S.O. and Y.W.C. A., and Miss Florence Boester, field representative for the west region of the same organization, arrived in Hermiston Thursday (today) to sur vey the local field and to assist the local workers in the project here. The personnel here wishes to ex tend a cordial invitation to the gen era! public to partake of the facilities available. There is no charge of any sort connected with the project.
