Payne received a telegram this morning telling them | of the death of Mrs. Payne's grand- mother, Mrs. Julia Francis Miller of Portland, who celebrated her 100th birthday August 8. Mrs. Miller pass ed away at the home of her daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Lister, early Thursday morning. She is well known here, having visited here many times. She is one of Oregon’s earliest pion eers having crossed the plains when she was six years old. Mrs. Miller will be buried in Portland Friday af ternoon. Mr. and Mrs. H. L.
