Mrs. Don ald Wair of Pendleton will be our guest speaker. Those who are in terested in rock gardens should make a special effort to attend as Mrs. Wair is an experienced alpine grow er in this section of the state. She knows what is best for this locality and she suggests you to come pre pared to take notes as many of the plants are in latin name only. Tea and cookies will be served after the meeting. Wild flowers will be on dis play and will be named. The after noon promises interest. Nominations were open and by our constitutional amendment elections were also in effect and the officers to take office the first meeting in June. C IV IL SERVICE EXA M FOR PAINTERS G IVEN A group of approximately 75 stu dents and instructors will leave Her miston early Saturday morning bound for La Grande where they will par ticipate in the annual music festival. The local group will consist of the high school band and the two glee clubs. The trip to La Grande serves as a climax each year for students who have bent their efforts towards de veloping their talents in musk. The occasion is looked forward to for many months. T A X I SERVICE TO The cold spell of the past two weeks has done considerable damage to flowers, early gardens and fruits in general about the project. Exten sive damage to fruit blossoms in the Umatilla region has been reported by growers. Locally the extent of injury has been centered on early gardens and ¡lowers and shrubs. A pot luck dinner was served at noon. the ladies finished a com forter for a member that is an inva lid. Five men worked on the build ing and ijuite a bit was accomplished. In the afternoon a committe of Mrs. Laura Morris, Mrs. Nellie Tucker and Mrs. Doris Panages pre sented an interesting program on lit erature. The next meeting will be held Friday. May 2, with Mrs. Doris Mikesell and Mrs. Jess Prindle in charge.
