Annabelle Martin is here visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Harry Gram- mer. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Chapman and daughter Francis of Walla Walla were here last Tuesday. Annabelle Martin returned with them to visit. Albert Vieg spent from Wednesday till Sunday in Seattle and Portland visiting friends. Due to the fact that the govern ment barge has completed its work here in Umatilla the following men and their families have moved to Pasco. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Stoop and daughters Linda and Donna, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Weaver, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Kipple, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bentley. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Olsen and daughter Nancy, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Smith and son Jim, Mr. and Mrs. A1 Darr and son, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Coons and Sharon, Ed Schmidt, H. Johnson, Stewart Rice, Dale Rice and Russell Belshaw. Betty McKenzie, student nurse at Pendleton spent Friday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Mc Kenzie. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Meyers of Pas co spent the week end here visiting friends. Mrs. Jerry Smith and son, Mrs. Don Harryman and sons spent Wed nesday in Pasco looking for houses to rent. George Butterwood spent a few days in Portland receiving medical care. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Ur- sel Hiatt and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Os- trom spent Friday night in Walla Walla. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Thompson and son Charles spent a few days here visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Thompson while on their way to Portland to make their future home. They have spent the last two years at Elmer City, Wn. Mrs. Jack Duff and son of Adams are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Thompson. Mr. and Mps. George Butterwood spent Saturday in Pendleton. Robert McKenzie left Monday for Pendleton where he will attend the air school. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Springer have returned from a week’s visit with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Mahoney in Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Steaver of Rieth were here Saturday. Mrs. Paul Walsh and children re turned to their home Monday after visiting with her parents. Mr. Walsh remained to work. Mrs. James Byrnes and daughter Joan left Tuesday for Hood River where they will spend the remainder of the summer because of Mrs. Byrnes’ health. Mr. Byrnes took them down. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Walsh and children of The Dalles arrived last Wednesday to visit a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Walsh while Mr. Walsh will be brake- man on the switch engine. Miss Naomi Brownell accompanied her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Steaver to Portland to visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brownell. Dale Rice motored to Bonneville Friday after his wife. They left to make their home in Pasco. Dorothy Mustard spent Friday in Spokane. A1 Darr accompanied by his sister, Mrs. Ronald Kring and daughter, mo tored to Portland and Oregon City Saturday. Mrs. A1 Darr and small son, who have been spending two months with her parents, returned Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Duff and son spent the week end visitine in Boise, Idaho.andL a Grande, Ore. PINE CITY NEWS By Mrs. Bernice W attenburger Mrs. Harry Andrews and daugh ter of Hermiston and Miss Ina Wat- tenburger of Oakland, Calif., spent Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Wattenburger. Dora Moore and Joy Smith called Tuesday ata the Harrison home. Mrs. Harold Wilkins drove to Portland Thursday with Mrs. Gladys Corrigal, who is very ill. Mrs. Lorene Hurll of Heppner is staying a few days at the Jein Daley home. Popular Patricia Daley is Lena candidate for an attendent at the Heppner rodeo, which will be staged in August. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Wattenburger and family, Mr and Mrs John Har rison and son of Pine City, and Mr. and Mrs. Emery Cox and family of Hermiston spent Saturday evening at the Walter Wigglesworth home in Echo honoring Mrs. Wigglesworth’s birthday. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Wattenburger drove to Pasco Monday to visit their son Earl and family and remained over night. Callers Sunday at the E. B. Wat tenburger home were Mrs. Russell Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Morean Finch and family, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Wat tenburger and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Ayers and family. Mrs. Gladys Corrigal is receiving medical treatment in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Moore ex pect to leave Thursday fora ten day trip to Seattle and coast points and nRinier, Oregon, to visit Mrs. Moore’s parents. Many of the Umatilla people at tended the Plunkett show which was here Wednesday, Mrs. Del Jackson and daughter Louise have just returned from Port land where they attended the Presby terian synod and visited relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Lew Brownell motor ed to Portland Sunday morning. They were accompanied by Mrs. Parker, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Yer\a. Mr. and Mrs. Joder of Nebraska have been the guests of his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Joder. Mrs. Ruth Cowan and daughter Barbara is visiting her mother in Walla Walla this week. Mrs. Earl Shaw is spending the week in Seattle and Tacoma with her son Earl Fromdshl, who is stationed at the Fort. She will also visit her brother. Mrs. Alec Ran and sons were called to Portland due to the serious illness of her mother. Mr. Ran spent Sunday there with them. Annabelle Martin, who has been visiting at the Ervin Chapman home in Walla Walla returned home the first of the week. Frances re turned with her to visit. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Switzler re turned home last week from a trip which took them to Canada. They made the trip with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Boone, friends from Seattle. Maurice Priddy and Ray Moses have joined the National Guard. Rev. and Mrs. J. K. Walpole and daughter Emma Nell and Marvin of Boardman spent Monday here. They had spent the last week in Portland attending Presbyterian Synod and visiting his mother. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Keys and sons motored to Baker last week where they remained for a stay with their grandparents, but Mr. and Mrs. Keyes returned home. Mrs. Milo McFarland and Gen evieve Waller spent Sunday at the A. E. McFarland home in Board- man. The latter remained to spend a week with Shirley and Joyce Mc Farland, who have been visiting their grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Haus of Weiser, Idaho, who were visiting friends in Hermiston, were in Umatilla Satur day. Mr. Haus is a driver for Conso lidated Freight Line and is a former resident of Umatilla.
