THURSDAY, APRIL 18, 1840. THE HERMISTON HERALD. HERMISTON. OREGON. PAOS FIVM FARM CO-OPERATIVE DIVISION M ESSAGE TO EVERY M EM BER. FINAL DATE SET * R.E.A. H IG H LIG H TS* FOR WORKSHEETS ♦ ------ ♦ BY R. L. WOOLLEY Several different parties have in quired at the office recently about some method of financing electrical appliances such as refrigerators, ranges and many others. I have in quired regarding funds available through the Rural Electrification Administration and find that there is an organization called the Electric Farm and Home Authority which operates in conjunction with the lo cal dealers in financing electrical ap pliances. I have also found that there is an other organization called the Com mercial Investment Trust Corpora tion, the C. I. T., which seems to have a very good plan for financing elec trical appliances through local deal ers. We are inquiring further and per haps will have more information on this m atter a little later. Those mem bers interested in financing their ap pliances may do well to investigate these sources. Your association is considering the construction of several short exten sions to existing lines during this season, perhaps 25 miles or more. The most urgent at the present time is the provision of facilities for serv ing the city of Boardman. We are moving as rapidly as possible on the extension and are planning to build it in the very near future. Detailed plans are now being considered by the R. E. A. in Washington. As soon as they have approved these details, construction will be started. April 30 is an important date to operators under the Agricultural Conservation program according to A. R. Coppock, chairman of the Uma tilla County Agricultural Conserva tion committee. First, it is the final date for signing a work sheet on land that has not previously been under the program, and also it is the final date for signing the estimate sheet Form WR-406B. A check at the as sistant county agent’s office in Her miston, which is available to assist operators in completing this form, re vealed that there are a number of op erators that have not as yet signed. The county committee will mail the WR-406B form to operators who have not signed and urges all opera tors who intend to comply to fill in the form and return to the assistant county agent’s office in Hermiston or mail to the association office in Pendleton before May 1, 1940. Examiner Coming Again. A traveling examiner of operators and chauffeurs is scheduled to arrive in Hermiston Thursday, April 25, and will be on duty at the city libra ry between the hours of 11 a. m. to 5 p. m., according to a recent an nouncement released from the Secre tary of State’s office. All those wish ing permits or licenses to drive cars are asked to get in touch with the examiner during these hours. CANNING SCHEDULE 12 to 3:20 p.m. 8 to 11 a. m.
