Bensel entertained at a bridge luncheon Friday afternoon in honor of Mrs. Roberta Gunn. Two tables were in play with a few extra guests. Mrs. Clint Jackson won high and Mrs. Ed Jackson winning low. A guest prize was presented to Mrs. Gunn. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Moyer are being congratulated on the birth of a baby girl born Thursday (today) at the Pendleton hospital. Mr, and Mrs. Russell Wood an nounce the arrival of a son born Sun day at the Hermiston General Hos pital weighing 12 pounds. Mrs. Chas. Isaacs and daughter Helen spent Saturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Dyer, her parents. Mrs. Edgar Conner of Bend spent the week end with her grandmother, Mrs. Jennie Johnson, at the home of Roy L. Null. Miss Norma Hanson of La Grande has been spending her spring vaca tion with Mr. and Mrs. Phil Jones and family on the Butter Creek high way. Mrs. Paul Van Patten and Mrs. A1 Quiring and Shirley were business visitors in Pendleton Tuesday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Cooper were business callers in Hermiston Wed nesday. Mr. Cooper made his 135th monthly visit to this city to audit the books at Rohrman Motor Co. He is employed at Lex ington. The boys spent the day boat ing at McKay reservoir. Jack Smith accompanied the Pend leton Male Chorus to Walla Walla last Thursday where the group pre sented a concert. Newspaper reports stated that the chorus was enthusi astically received. John Campbell and Bon Tom of Portland are spending the remainder of the week at the Thos. Campbell place generaly repairing and clean ing up. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Wilkes, who have been considerably under the weather in recent weeks, are greatly improved. Mrs. Wilkes is still con fined to her home but Mr. Wilkes re turned to his work this week. Miss Marion Casady and Dell Christley made a trip to Bonneville dam Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Null and daughter and son-in-law spent Sun day evening at the Roy Null home. Mrs. Bill Tuttle, who resides near the Columbia river, visited Tuesday at the W. R. Struthers home. Hugo Pankow returned Friday from an extended stay at The Dalles. Mrs. A. F. Rohrman and son Charles returned Friday from Port land where she had spent several days on business. Bensel was surprised Sat urday evening on his birthday when th entire family gathered with Mr. and Mrs. Clint Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jackson and Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Willcutt to celebrate his birthday. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Warner spent from Saturday till Tuesday at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Schofield, in Vancouver. Mrs. Schofield was celebrating her birth day. The Warners also visited at We- coma Beach with Carl McNaught. Miss Loretta Dwyer of Sacramen to, Calif., arrived Wednesday eve ning to spend several weeks with her niece and family, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Rohrman. Miss Dwyer is superin tendent of Pediatrics Sacramento county hospital. Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Knickerbock er and daughter Kay will leave F ri day morning for Union where Mr. Knickerbocker will attend a semi annual meeting of eastern Oregon county agents. Mrs. Knickerbocker and Kav will visit at La Grande. Local friends will be interested to '»arn that Mr. and Mrs. George Mc Kenzie of Tillamook are the parents of a baby gir, born last Friday. She has been named Catherine Louise and is their third child. Mrs. James Pear son, mother of Mrs. McKenzie, is vis- itinp- there. Word has been received recently of the death on March 28 of Mrs. Alice C. McMillen. 83, wife of the late E. E. McMillen and sister of the late R. C. Canfield. She died at her home in Pendferville, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. McMillen were early settlers on the project and had extensive holdings here for some time, owning an 80- acre tract in the Columbia district.
