John Thom, who has been quite ill at the Hermiston General hospital, is some improved. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Fix and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fix visited in Pendleton Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Struthers visited Sunday with her sister, Mrs. James Kramer and family at Pilot Rock. Mrs. Rex Jackson was honored with a miscellaneous shower at her home Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Miller of Uma tilla were in Hermiston Tuesday on business. Mr. and Mrs. John Graves and family and Mrs. Miles Mulligan of Heppner visited at the R. B. Wilcox home Sunday. Ben Gerking, leader of the Union church choir, was surprised on his birthday Wednesday evening after choir practice by members of the choir. Week end guests at the homes of Chas., Joe and George Corliss of West land district, were Mrs. F. H. Cor liss, Mrs. Walters and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Corliss, all of Ontario, Ore. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hunt an nounce the arrival of a baby girl, 6 lbs. 8 oz., Wednesday, born at the home of Mrs. Lucille Montgomery. This is their sixth child. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Wilkes and Mrs. I. W. Geer spent Sunday in Walla Walla. Mrs. Will Zacharias and son Dale of Pendleton visited last Monday at the W. R. Struthers home. A. A. Holland of Stanfield, a med ical patient at the Hermiston Gener al hospital, returned to his home Wednesday. The Westland Home Economics club will meet at the home of Mrs. Jess Prindle on April 10, with Mrs. Joe Corliss acting as hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Isaacs and daughter Helen of Pilot Rock spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Dyer. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Furrer have moved to Pilot Rock where he will be emplpoyed during the summer. Mrs. Walt Pearson and Sally and Mrs. M. E. Knickerbocker and Kay were Pendleton business visitors on Tuesday. Mrs. Ella Furrer, daughter of Mrs. Roy Null, and Dorothy Jordan were Sunday evening callers at the Roy Null home. Mrs. Thomas Campbell left Tues day with her daughter, Mrs. M. D. Scroggs, for Sunnyside, Wn., to make her home. Mrs. Dale Fischer of Eugene came Wednesday night to visit until Sun day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Dodd. Mrs. Jennie Johnson is making her home with her son, Roy G. Null, on the Butter Creek highway since dis posing of her place in Hermiston. Mrs. Victor Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Brock, left Monday for her home at Maderia, Calif. She has been visiting here for the past four weeks. Jean and James Decker, students of Baker high school, arrived Sun day to spend their spring vacation at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Turnblad. Lawrence Palmer of Lexington spent some time in Hermiston Wed nesday attending to business matters. George McNealy of Patterson was in Hermiston Tuesday. See Dr. H. C. L. Babcock were in the Hermiston area Monday look ing after business and also doing a little campaigning. Dr. L. C. Richey, optometrist of Pendleton, Oregon, will be in his new location, Monday, April 8th, 1940, above the Pendleton Drug Store. 33-2c Mrs. Roy Omohundro of LaGrande visited Mrs. Struthers from Tuesday till Friday evening of last week. The Omohundros formerly resided in the Butter Creek district. Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Clark are be ing congratulated upon the arrival of a boy, 7 lbs. 8 oz., born Wednesday at the Hermiston General hospital. He has been named Ralph. They now have two boys. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith of En terprise were over night guests at the home of Mrs. Georgia Henderson Saturday and spent Sunday visiting friends here. They returned that night. Mrs. Inez McCormick and Mrs. Miles Barager at the latter’s home entertained the officers of the East ern Star Tuesday at a unique party. Fifteen officers and past matrons spent a most enjoyable afternoon. Miss Marion Casady, Mrs. Casady, Mrs. Christley and Jim Getchell went to Pendleton Tuesday where they met Mrs. Fannie Morey of May, Okla <> homa. Mrs. Morey is a sister of Mrs. Christley and will visit here. Dr. and Mrs. Ivan Anderson of Portland were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Felt- house. They were en route to visit her parents at New Plymouth, Ida. Mrs. Anderson is Mr. Felthouse’s niece. Word was received here that Joe Dyer, formerly of Hermiston who has been in the Redmond hospital for sev eral weeks, was somewhat improved and was able to leave the hospital. He is now at the home of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Peterson. Mrs. A. F. Randolph and son Wil lard of Debout Lakes, Minn., left on Monday for coast points after an 8- day visit at the A. W. Turnblad home. They have been on an 8-weeks trip through the eastern and south ern states and will return home the "lorthern route. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fix of Rose Lodge, Ore., arrived Wednesday to spend until Friday visiting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Fix in the Columbia district. Mrs. Ben Fix had visited for a few days at the home of her son, and ac companied them to Hermiston. R. H. McAtee, former school sup erintendent here, stopped a short while at the O. O. Felthouse home on Tuesday evening en route to Spo kane to attend the Inland Empire teachers’ meeting. Mrs. McAtee is spending the time with their daugh ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Widoman at Pasco. Dr. Wm. C.
