The Golden Text was, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal’’ (Matt. 6:19). Among the citations which com prised the Lesson-Sermon was the following from the Bible: ‘‘For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die; but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live” (Rom. 8:13). The Lesson-Sermon also Included the following correlative passages from the Christian Science textbook, ‘Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: ‘‘Emerge gently from matter into Spirit. Think not to thwart the spiritual ultimate of all things, but come naturally into Spirit through better health and morals and as the result of spiritual growth” (p. 485).
