This qual ity is desireable in all walks of life, both physical and mental. Friday the citizens of Hermiston will nave an opportunity to display their inclination for this virtue by entering into the spirit of clean-up day. Such a day is a vital part in the life of any progress ive city, be it a large metropolis or a small hamlet beside the wayside. A general clean up at various intervals is not only necessary but it adds to the ap pearance of a city, both to the visitor and to the resident. Cleaning up of old rubbish, trash and other waste materials not only is necessary for appear ance, health, but it also refreshes and lends new life to old things that have suffered through the winter months. Clean-up day in any city, however, is like a chain with its many links. Each one must live up to his fullest responsibility in order to make it a success. It is futile for one man to clean up his premises, only to have a neighbor neglect his. One detracts from the other and one bad link can destroy the strength of a long chain. For this reason it is vital that citi zens of Hermiston enter into the spirit of clean-up Friday as a unit so that the best result may be ob tained. Readers of The Herald will find a new masthead on the front page in this week’s issue. The change was made in order to keep pace with the rapid change of type faces used by newspapers about the country. We hope that our readers will like it and will not think that they have picked up the wrong paper when they begin to read the front page. • We do not contend to know very much of the styles of ladies hats but we will venture a guess that the debut of many Hermiston ladies’ Easter bonnets was held up for a week. The strong wind Sunday was not very adaptable for many of the new versions of headdress. • Fishing season is just around the corner. This day is a red letter occasion for any true disciple of Old Isaak Walton. It is also an established fact that it brings out the literary talents of a fisherman —to make a long tale out of a little fish.
