Dyer camp conservationist Is now here making contacts and outlining the work so the crews may be readily organized upon their arrival. The camp is now under the soil conser vation division. Lieutenant Wilbur Tagliabue and two assistants from the Squaw Creek camp are cleaning buildings and grounds. J. R. Chenauit, who is field supervisor, was in Stanfield last week. Ed Perris, who has been cus todian at camp Stanfield since the boys left last summer, expects to hold the position at the Moro camp Mr. Dyer’s family will live in Her miston. Fredre- ckson. Funeral services were held in Pendleton Tuesday for the late T. O. Yates, who passed away last week in Longview. Mr. Yates came to Stanfield in 1910 and for many years operated 'the lumber yard and hardware now known as the Tum- A-Lum. His widow and son Truman survive him. Mrs. T. Nicolati, daughter Car- mella and son Junior of Portland are guests of Mrs. Elizabeth Nudo. Mrs. Glenn Jackson returned Mon day from Pendleton where she un derwent a major operation in St. Anthony’s hospital two weeks ago. The Misses Lenna Neill, Joanna Leslie and Marian Troyer were La Grande visitors Saturday. Mrs. G. E. Greathouse was host ess to the Monday Bridge club. Sub stitute players included Mesdames Ed Liesegang and D. Z. Penney of Echo and Mrs. R. G. Penney and George Elliot. The Study club met Thursday at the W. T. Reeves home with Mrs. H. L. Hedrick presiding. The literary program consisted of a paper on "Community Spirit” by Mrs. F. B. Stuart, a biography of A. Einstein by Mrs. H. McCormick’s reading of several Chester Fee’s poems by Mrs. H. L. Hedrick. Club guests include Miss Berry and Mesdames N. D. Bard, M. Refvem and H. Gillanders Following the meeting all enjoyed a social hour complimenting the fol lowing teachers, Mrs. F. C. Fitz patrick, Mrs. Vernon Waid, Joanne Leslie, Lenna Neill and Marian Troyer. Mrs. Hedrick presided at the tea table. Miss Lenna Neill was a Heppner visitor Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Yeiss and fam ily of Walla Walla are making their home with Bert Baker. Mrs. Maud Morse of O. S. C. ex tension service talked on "Common Problems of Parents," in the Pres byterian church.
