T hey sta te th a t T h arp has no know n relatives, b u t his lodge record shows th a t he w as born in Mound City, K ansas, Septem ber 15, 1883. The first eastern Oregon ski meet .will be held on Tip Top M ountain Sunday, F eb ru ary 27, according to a com m ittee of four m em bers who were in H erm iston la st F rid ay p u t tin g out p ublicity m aterial an d se cu rin g club members. The to u rn am en t w ill be held on th e recently com pleted Oregon T rail Ski club eourse n ear Kamela. The facilities of th e club include th e m ain ru n w ay 2700 feet long and 100 feet wide, two one and one-half mile down hill zig-zag trails, and two practice slopes. T he club has also installed a 2400 foot “ski-help” w hich takes th e skier from th e prox im ity of th e bottom to th e source of all th ree long runw ays.
