Mrs. G. W. Ripley left Sunday, December 19, for Ohio where she will visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Clemmer, who live near Defi ance, Ohio. Mrs. Ripley will return some time in January. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Swarner and Lawrence Swarner of Corvallis arrived Sunday to spend the Christ mas holidays with their parents Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Swarner. Lawrence is a student at Oregon State college. Mr. and Mrs. Romar Stein are ex pected this Friday to be home for the holidays. Mrs. Stein Is a daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Swarner. Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Robuck of Boulder, Colorado, are visiting at, the home of Mrs. Robuck’s sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Shank, on North Hill. Mr. Robuck states that crops in Colorado are good and among the best in the 37 years of residence in that state. The Robucks have leased their farm and may consider locating in this sec tion of the country. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Power and their son Wayne entertained jointly Tuesday night at a lovely Christ mas party. The rooms were cleverly decorated with Christmas effects and refreshments of cake, sand wiches and coffee were served to the 32 guests. Pinochle was enjoy ed with first prize going to Mrs. Chas. Seeliger and Joe Corliss, and low to Mrs. Joe Corliss and Harold Laird. Door prize went to Mrs. Thornberg, and winner in a gues sing game was Alma Laird. Mrs. John Petit was honoree at a miscellaneous shower Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Ruby Knight north of town with Mrs. Knight and Miss Gladys Driscoll as joint hostesses. The affair was in the form of a surprise for the bride, the former Edith Peterson, who was married Thursday, December 15, at Walla Walla. A mock wedding was performed causing much merriment. Guests included the honoree, Mrs. Petit, Mrs. Gretchen Purdy, Helen Dunning, Opal Stockard, Margaret Clarke, Irene Kennings, Mrs. W. J. Kennings, Mrs. Laura Mortimore, Mrs. Peter Castrlc.
